Janus Van Der Gijp
Janus van de Gijp (1921–1988) was a professional footballer from Dordrecht for SC Emma. He played on the team alongside his brothers Cor van der Gijp, Cor, Wim van der Gijp, Wim, and Freek, and their cousin Jur. Janus played in the position of right-winger. Playing career In 1949, Van der Gijp scored the last goal in the 3–0 victory over FC Eindhoven in the Zilveren Bal tournament finals, where all goals were by the Van der Gijps. The Van der Gijp machine had previously knocked Feyenoord out in the semifinals. Also in 1949, Van der Gijp missed a penalty in a friendly tryout game on the Dutch National Team against Sweden. Van der Gijp had a decisive contribution in the return of SC Emma to the Eerste Klasse in 1950. In 1954, the Eerste Klasse turned professional with SC Emma and Janus van der Gijp in it. SC Emma
Sportclub Emma is an association football club from Dordrecht, Netherlands. Its first squad plays in the Derde Klasse since 2019. Its colors are red and blue. History 1910s–1930s: Foundation and the early years SC Emma was founded on 1 May 1911. In the 1930–1931 season it played in the Derde Klasse D of the KNVB. 1940s–1950s: Eerste Klasse and professional football In September 1940, four months after the Nazis occupied the Netherlands, Emma beat VIOS 10–0. SC Emma promoted to the Dutch top tier, at that time the Eerste Klasse, in 1941. In 1946 it returned to the Tweede Klasse and in 1950 it promoted again to the Eerste. From 1954 to 1958, beginning when the Eerste Klasse turned professional, it played four seasons of pro football.
