January 2020 Ma'rib Attack
On 18 January 2020, a Unmanned combat aerial vehicle, drone and Ballistic missile, missile attack on a mosque in a military camp near Marib killed at least 111 Yemeni soldiers during evening prayers. Dozens more were injured. No group claimed responsibility, although the Houthi movement is suspected and was accused of carrying out the attack. The Marib campaign, also called Marib offensive ( ar, جبهة مأرب), is an ongoing military campaign taking place in the Yemeni Civil War (2014–present), Yemeni civil war for the control of the Marib Governorate of Yemen. Fighting between the Houthi forces and factions of the Yemeni Army loyal to Supreme Political Council on one side, and Yemeni Army units loyal to president Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi and militiamen on the other side, took place since early 2015. Marib ( ar, مَأْرِب, Maʾrib) is a governorate of Yemen. It is located 173 kilometers to the northeast of Yemen's capital, Sana'a. The population of Marib Governorate comprises 1.2% of the country's total population.
