January 2010 Bajaur Bombing
January 2010 Bajaur bombing was a suicide bombing in Khar town in Bajaur in Pakistan on January 30, 2010. At least 16 people were killed when a man dressed in a burqa walked up to a military checkpoint and detonated himself. 2 soldiers were among the dead and at least 25 were injured. It has long been suspected that Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri have been hiding in Bajaur. A curfew was imposed in the district after the blast. The bomber was thought to be between 18 – 23 years of age. The attack drew widespread condemnation in Pakistan. Khar, Pakistan
Khar ( ps, ښار, ''X̌ār''), also spelled Khaar, is the headquarters of the Bajaur District of Pakistan. Khar was one of the largest towns in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (merged into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in 2018), and lies near the border with Afghanistan. Fahmida Mirza ( ur, ; born 20 December 1956) is a Pakistani politician who was Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination, in office from 20 August 2018 until 10 April 2022. Bajaur District
Bajaur District ( ps, باجوړ ولسوالۍ, ur, ) is a district in Malakand Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. Until 2018, it was an agency of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, then during restructuring that merged FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it became a district. According to the 2017 census, the population of the district is 1,093,684. It borders Afghanistan's Kunar Province with a 52 km border.
