Jansen Gomes
Jansen Gomes is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt athlete. Gomes is an IBJJF World Champion at every colored belt level and the middleweight black belt 2023 World Champion. Biography Gomes was born on October 20, 2001, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He grew up in Cantagalo, a neighboring community of Cantagalo–Pavão–Pavãozinho, a group of favelas in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro, renowned for producing numerous jiu-jitsu champions. From a young age, Jansen began training Brazilian jiu-jitsu under the influence of his brother, Jonata Gomes, and his father, Antônio Carlos "Bode," who holds a black belt in BJJ. Gomes achieved recognition as one of the top young athletes in Brazil when he was just a yellow belt, winning his first National title. Cantagalo–Pavão–Pavãozinho is a ''bairro'' (neighborhood), a grouping of two ''favelas'' in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, located between the ''bairros'' of Ipanema and Copacabana. As of 2010, it has circa 9,500 inhabitants. Cantagalo and Pavão–Pavãozinho were well known for violence, especially that associated with drug wars. The World IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship (commonly known as the Worlds or Mundials) is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament held once every year by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation. Tainan Dalpra Costa (born 6 November 2000) is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt competitor. A winner of every major tournaments as a colored belt, Dalpra is a two-time World, Pan American, and European champion. Dalpra is ranked No. 1 in the middleweight 2022-2023 IBJJF Gi Ranking. Early career Tainan Dalpra was born in Florianópolis, Brazil. At the age of 5, his father started teaching him Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Lucas Joas Gomes Leite (born November 3, 1982) is a Brazilian grappler. He is a multi-time world champion with first place finishes at the Gi, Nogi, and Grapplers Quest world championships. Leite started training Brazilian Jiu-jitsu when he was 12 years old under Ryan Gracie. He earned his black belt under Leo Vieira in 2006. Lucas is noted for having a dynamic half guard game utilizing a twisting knee-hip pressure that is difficult to stop. He says he likes to attack through half guard because it is effective in both gi and no gi competition.
