Janis Hansen (singer)
Janis Sue Klinger ( Hansen; October 10, 1942 – October 4, 2017) was an American recording artist and author. Music career While majoring in anthropology at the University of Colorado, Hansen participated in a singing group to help pay the tuition, which led to her being discovered by a talent scout. According to Hansen, "I received a telephone call from Los Angeles and was told a singer was needed for ''The Andy Williams Show''. Somebody had heard me singing and I was recommended for the job." Plans of finishing college were postponed, and Hansen flew to Los Angeles to join ''The Andy Williams Show''. The Carnival (band)
The Carnival was an American pop group formed by percussionist José Soares and vocalist Janis Hansen, both formerly of Sergio Mendes' Brasil '66. Initially a joint venture between Walter Wanderley and the original members of Brasil '66, the group eventually settled into a quartet augmented by Terry Fischer of the Murmaids and bassist Tommy Neal. The quartet's Brasil '66-meets- 5th Dimension sound was largely the brainchild of producer-engineer Bones Howe, who gathered L.A.'s Wrecking Crew studio musicians like Hal Blaine and Larry Knechtel for the project. A self-titled album was released in 1969. Two singles, "Son of a Preacher Man" b/w " Walk On By" and "Laia Ladaia" b/w "Canto de Carnival", were issued to promote what was supposed to be their debut album. Tom Bahler
Thomas Lee Bahler (also spelled Bähler; born June 1, 1943) is an American singer, composer, songwriter, arranger, producer, and author. He is the younger brother of singer, arranger, conductor and composer John Bahler. Bahler is most known for his song "She's Out of My Life"; recorded by Michael Jackson, the song was originally written for Frank Sinatra, who never recorded it. In Bahler's early career, he worked with Jan Berry (of Jan and Dean). Later, he and his elder brother John were vocalists in the Ron Hicklin Singers. Together with The Wrecking Crew (music), the Wrecking Crew, the Bahler brothers have sung, produced, and arranged hundreds of worldwide hits. The Love Generation was an American pop rock band from the 1960s. The band was together from 1967 to 1969. History The Love Generation was founded by brothers John Bahler and Tom Bahler. The group was active from 1967 to 1969. John and Tom were vocalists in the Imperial Records stable; they were part of the Ron Hicklin Singers. Two of the songs from The Love Generation — "Together (Havin' a Ball)" and "Let the Good Times In" — were used in the pilot episode of ''The Partridge Family''. Karen Philipp
Karen Philipp (born September 7, 1945) is an American singer and actress. Career Philipp came to national prominence in 1968 when she was hired as one of the two female vocalists in the second iteration of Sérgio Mendes and Brasil '66, debuting on their Top Ten best-selling album, '' Fool on the Hill''. She remained with Brasil '66 (and its successor group, Brasil '77) until she left in 1972 to pursue an acting career. She portrayed Lt. Dish in the first season of ''M*A*S*H''. Though her role was written out of the series after two episodes, a shot of her was used in the opening credits for the remainder of the series. She later had a recurring role on ''Quincy, M.E.'' as Robin Rollin (seasons 3-6). Philipp also posed nude in a pictorial in the September 1972 issue of ''Playboy,'' promoting her role in ''M*A*S*H''. Lani Hall (born November 6, 1945) is an American singer, lyricist, and author. From 1966 to 1971 she performed as lead vocalist for Sérgio Mendes & Brasil '66. In 1972 Hall released her first solo album, ''Sun Down Lady''. She may be best known, however, for providing the most recognizable (female) face and (female) vocal signature sound to Sérgio's group during her tenure there, and for her rendition of the theme song to the 1983 James Bond film, ''Never Say Never Again'', with its accompanying video, in which she prominently appears. In 1986 she was awarded her first Grammy for ''Es Fácil Amar'', as "Best Latin Pop Performance." After that year, Hall largely retired, resurfacing in 1998 with the solo album ''Brasil Nativo''. Sérgio Santos Mendes (; born February 11, 1941) is a Brazilian musician. His career took off with worldwide hits by his group Brasil '66. He has over 55 releases and plays bossa nova heavily crossed with jazz and funk. He was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song in 2012 as co-writer of the song "Real in Rio" from the animated film ''Rio''. Mendes is a unique example of a Brazilian musician primarily known in the United States, where his albums were recorded and where most of his touring took place.
