Jane Miller (diplomat)
Jane Caroline Miller OBE is a British diplomat who is currently the High Commissioner of the United Kingdom to Guyana. She is the first female to be appointed to the post. She also serves as Ambassador of the United Kingdom to CARICOM and non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Suriname. Early career Miller started her career as a dietitian before joining Voluntary Services Overseas and then the Overseas Development Administration. She then worked for the World Bank before joining the Department for International Development in 2005, where she operated in Africa, in particular Tanzania. Miller received the Order of the British Empire in the 2015 New Year Honours for services to Development in Africa, particularly towards ending Female Genital Mutilation. Female genital mutilation (FGM), also known as female genital cutting, female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C) and female circumcision, is the ritual cutting or removal of some or all of the external female genitalia. Berkhamsted ( ) is a historic market town in Hertfordshire, England, in the Bulbourne valley, north-west of London. The town is a civil parish with a town council within the borough of Dacorum which is based in the neighbouring large new town of Hemel Hempstead. Aubrey Norton is a Guyanese politician serving as Leader of the Opposition and as a member of the National Assembly since April 2022. Early life and education Norton became a member of the Youth Socialist Movement, the youth arm of the People's National Congress Reform (PNCR), from an early age. Norton received a diploma in political science from Julio Antonio Mella College in Cuba. Norton attended the University of Guyana, where he received a Bachelor's degree, also in political science. Norton joined the foreign service in the 1980s after completing his education. He then went on to study an MA in international relations at the University of Kent in the United Kingdom, graduating in 1994. Guyanese Passport
The Guyanese passport is issued to citizens of Guyana for international travel. As of July 2007, Guyana has issued the common Caribbean passport, featuring the logo of the Caribbean Community on the cover. The passport contains 32 pages and is issued for a validity period of 5 years. New machine readable passports are issued by the Passport Office within 5–7 days in Guyana (Weekend not included). The old Green cover passports remain valid until the end of their stated period of validity.
