Jane Foster
Jane Foster is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was introduced as a love interest of the superhero Thor Odinson until becoming a superhero in her own right. Created by writers Stan Lee and Larry Lieber, and artist Jack Kirby, the character first appeared in '' Journey into Mystery'' #84 (September 1962). For many years, Foster was a nurse, employed by Dr. Donald Blake, Thor's first mortal host, before becoming a doctor herself. Foster is later revealed to be deemed worthy to wield Thor's hammer Mjolnir when the former is no longer able. During this period, she adopts the mantle of Thor, and joins the Avengers. Foster's stint as Thor ends with the character sacrificing her life and the mantle reverting to the original Thor. Jane Foster Zlatovski
Jane Foster Zlatovski (1912–1979) allegedly engaged, with her husband, George Zlatovski, in covert activities on behalf of the Soviet Union while employed in sensitive U.S. Government wartime agencies during World War II. They were indicted in 1957. Their case was never tried and both Zlatovskis denied the accusations. Early life Jane Foster grew up in San Francisco, California. Her father, Harry Emerson Foster, was the medical director of the Cutter Laboratories. Her mother was Eve Cody Foster. Foster attended Mills College in Oakland, California, graduating in 1935. Foster married Dutch diplomat Alleendert Kamper in October 1936. She and Kamper separated after 18 months. Foster, required to spend five months on Dutch soil in order to finalize the divorce, travelled to Bali. Jane Denny Foster Wiley ( McDowell; December 10, 1829 - January 17, 1903) was the wife of Stephen Foster and the inspiration for his song " Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair". Her archives are located in the University of Pittsburgh. Early life Jane's father, Andrew Nathan McDowell, was a well-known physician in Pittsburgh. He encouraged the first black medical student from Western Pennsylvania to apply to and attend Harvard Medical School. Dr. McDowell wrote a letter of recommendation for the student and even helped to pay for part of his tuition. By the summer of 1850, Stephen Foster had begun to sell his music and had become increasingly well known. Jane has not been identified as having musical interests, talents or abilities. Captain Jane Foster CD, is a retired member of the Royal Canadian Air Force. She is noteworthy for being one of the first Canadian women, and one of the first women in the world post WWII, to fly a fighter jet, along with her contemporary, Dee Brasseur. Biography Foster joined the Canadian Forces in 1982 as one of the candidates in a trial program called SWINTER (Service-Women in Non-Traditional Environments and Roles.) SWINTER ran from 1979 to 1984, to assess whether women were competent to serve in various military roles. As part of SWINTER, Foster trained as a pilot and received her military wings in 1984. Upon completion of her training, she was posted to the 2 Canadian Forces Flying Training School (2CFFTS) in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
