''Janam'' ("Birth") is a 1985 Indian television film directed and written by Mahesh Bhatt. It is one of the autobiographical films Bhatt created in the early part of his career. The film was remade in Telugu as ''Atmakatha''. The film premiered on 4 December 1985 on DD National. Plot Rahul (Kumar Gaurav) is a struggling filmmaker who spends his nights in empty theatres and his friend Asghar (Akash Khurana)'s restaurant. Asghar tries to convince many financers and producers to invest in Rahul's script. He mostly roams around the city and avoids going home because of his tumultuous relationship with his father Virendra Desai(Anupam Kher), who is a fading filmmaker. Mahesh Bhatt
Mahesh Bhatt (born 20 September 1948) is an Indian film director, producer and screenwriter known for his works in Hindi cinema. A stand-out film from his earlier period is ''Saaransh'' (1984), screened at the 14th Moscow International Film Festival. It became India's official entry for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film for that year. The 1986 film '' Naam'' was his first piece of commercial cinema. In 1987, he turned producer with the film '' Kabzaa'' under the banner, "Vishesh Films", with his brother Mukesh Bhatt. ''Woh Lamhe...'' ( en, Those Moments, italic=yes) is a 2006 Indian romantic drama film directed by Mohit Suri, starring Kangana Ranaut and Shiney Ahuja in the lead roles. The film is supposedly based on Parveen Babi's life, her battle with schizophrenia and her relationship with Mahesh Bhatt to whom she was a lover as well as a mentor in his struggling days. Bhatt said that it is his tribute to the actress and time he spent with her, hence the name ''Woh Lamhe...'' ("Those Moments"). Parveen Babi's character is played by Ranaut who is named Sana Azim in the film to avoid direct reference to the actress.
