Jan III Sobieski High School in Kraków is a high school in Kraków, Kraków, Poland. It was founded in 1883. History The school was founded as a tribute to King Jan III Sobieski and his victory at battle of Vienna. The new building, which is still the location of ''Jan III Sobieski High School'' was completed in 1887. The students took part in both World Wars, fighting for the independence of Poland. During the Nazi occupation of Poland, the Germans made an office building of the school and destroyed the book collection. After the Wehrmacht left Kraków, the school was first in the city that started holding classes again. Since 1969 the school has been an organizer of a theatrical contest ''Festiwal Małych Form Teatralnych'' (''Small Theatrical Forms Festival''), where many famous Polish actors started their careers. A general education liceum (Polish: ''Liceum ogólnokształcące'' ) is an academic high school in the Education in Poland, Polish educational system. They are attended by those who plan to further their academic education upon graduation from Education in Poland, szkoła podstawowa (compulsory education) through a path other than Technikum (Polish education), Technikum or Vocational school (since it's impossible for one to be at the age of 18 or more upon graduation from Education in Poland, szkola podstawowa, thus education is still mandatory for them one has to pick one of the three). Zdzisław Krygowski
Zdzisław Jan Ewangelii Antoni Krygowski (Lwów, 1872 — 1955, Poznań) was a Polish mathematician, rector of the Lwów Polytechnic (1917–18), and professor at Poznań University (1919–38, 1946–55). Enigma Krygowski has become famous in the history of cryptology for having assisted the Polish General Staff in setting up its cryptology course for Poznań University mathematics students that began on January 15, 1929. Mariusz Ziółko (born September 18, 1946, in Hamburg) is a Polish Professor of automatics and signal processing. He graduated in 1970 from AGH University of Science and Technology, where he also received PhD in 1973 and habilitation in 1990. Jerzy Turowicz
Jerzy Turowicz (; 10 December 1912 – 27 January 1999) was a leading Polish Catholic journalist and editor for much of the post-Second World War period. He was editor of the Catholic weekly ''Tygodnik Powszechny'' from 1945 until his death in 1999, except for three years in the early 1950s. Early life and education Turowicz was born on 10 December 1912 in Kraków, Poland, the son of Klotylda (Turnau) and August Turowicz, a judge. In 1930, he joined a Catholic youth organization, called ''Rebirth''. He graduated from Jagiellonian University in 1939 with a degree in philosophy. Jan Sztaudynger
Jan Izydor Sztaudynger (Kraków, 28 April 1904 – 12 September 1970, Kraków) was a Polish poet and satirist who enjoyed enormous popularity after World War II. Life Jan Sztaudynger studied Polish and German language, German philology at Kraków's Jagiellonian University. He is known for his epigrams, which in Poland are called ''fraszki'' (singular: ''fraszka''). Sztaudynger called some of his epigrams ''piórka'' (singular: ''piórko''). Jan Marcin Szancer (12 November 1902 – 21 March 1973) was a Polish illustrator, scenographer and professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Szancer was born into a Jewish family in Kraków. He studied at the Kraków Academy of Fine Arts, and later in France and Italy. He was a friend of Jan Brzechwa many of whose poems he illustrated. Henryk Tomasz Reyman (28 July 1897 – 11 April 1963) was a Polish footballer, sports official and military officer. He fought in World War I in the Austrian Army, then in the Polish Army in the Polish-Soviet War, and also participated in the Silesian Uprisings. Bronisław Malinowski
Bronisław Kasper Malinowski (; 7 April 1884 – 16 May 1942) was a Polish-British anthropologist and ethnologist whose writings on ethnography, social theory, and field research have exerted a lasting influence on the discipline of anthropology. Malinowski was born in what was part of the Austrian partition of Poland, and completed his initial studies at Jagiellonian University in his birth city of Kraków.
