Jan Ghyselinck
Jan Ghyselinck (born 24 February 1988 in Tielt) is a Belgian former professional road cyclist, who rode professionally between 2010 and 2016 for the , , and teams. He joined as a neo-pro for the 2010 season, and after some good results he signed a full-contract with the team. Ghyselinck left at the end of the 2013 season, and joined for the 2014 season. Belgian National Time Trial Championships
The Belgian National Time Trial Championships are held annually as part of the Belgian National Cycling Championships, deciding the national champion in this discipline for the year to come. The national time trial championship in Belgium is a relatively new competition, especially when compared to the Belgium National Road Race Championship, which was first held in 1894. The first winner of the men's elite time trial championships was Marc Streel in 1997. The race was not held the following year, and Marc Streel retained his title in 1999. In 2000 the Rik Verbrugghe was crowned champion, who holds the record for the fastest average speed in a time trial race in a Grand Tour, which he achieved by winning the 2001 Giro d'Italia prologue. Marc Wauters, Leif Hoste and Kristof Vandewalle hold the record for most wins in the championships, with three wins apiece. General Classification In The Giro D'Italia
The general classification in the Giro d'Italia is the most important classification of the Giro d'Italia, which determines who is the overall winner. It is therefore considered more important than secondary classifications as the points classification or the mountains classification. Since 1931, the leader of the general classification is identified by a pink jersey ( it, maglia rosa ). Prior to that year and since the creation of the race, no colour was used to distinguish the winner at the top of the classification. The first rider to wear the maglia rosa was Learco Guerra following the first stage of the 1931 Giro d'Italia. The first jersey was entirely pink and made from wool. It had a roll-neck collar and front pockets. As Italy was under Fascist Party rule there was a gray shield stitched onto the shirt, a symbol for the party. In road bicycle racing, a Grand Tour is one of the three major European professional cycling stage races: Giro d'Italia, Tour de France, and Vuelta a España. Collectively they are termed the ''Grand Tours'', and all three races are similar in format, being three-week races with daily stages. They have a special status in the UCI regulations: more points for the UCI World Tour are distributed in Grand Tours than in other races, and they are the only stage races allowed to last longer than 14 days. All three races have a substantial history, with the Tour de France first held in 1903, Giro d'Italia first held in 1909 and the Vuelta a España first held in 1935. Dwars door West-Vlaanderen is a road bicycle race through the Belgian province of West Flanders. History The race was originally created unter the name Omloop der Vlaamse Ardennen (''English'': Tour of the Flemish Ardennes) in 1945 as a one-day race. It remained like that until 1999, when it became a two-day stage race and was renamed Guldensporentweedaagse. Dwars door Vlaanderen ''( en, Across Flanders)'' is a semi-classic road bicycle race in Belgium, held annually since 1945. The race starts in Roeselare and finishes in Waregem, both in West Flanders. Since 2017 the event is included in the UCI World Tour. Held in late March, the event is part of the ''Flemish Cycling Week'', which also includes E3 Harelbeke, Gent–Wevelgem and the Tour of Flanders.
