Jan Budař
Jan Budař (born 31 July 1977) is a Czech actor, director, singer, composer and script writer. Biography Budař was born in Frýdlant near Liberec. He graduated from the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts (JAMU) in Brno in 2000. He started his career in Brno's theatres under the tutelage of theatre director Vladimír Morávek. This creative partnership led to their first film, '' Boredom in Brno''. Budař also co-authored the script and composed the music. The comedy was awarded five Czech Lions in 2003, including Best Male Actor for Jan Budař's performance. Budař went on to roles in Marek Najbrt's debut ''Champions'' and Jan Hřebejk's ''Up and down'', the Czech entry for the Academy Awards, which won several awards at the Czech Lion Awards 2005. Morávek and Budař created their second film, ''Hrubeš and Mareš best friends: come rain or shine''. Frýdlant
Frýdlant (; also known as Frýdlant v Čechách, german: Friedland in Böhmen) is a town in Liberec District in the Liberec Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 7,400 inhabitants. The town centre is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument zone. Administrative parts Villages of Albrechtice u Frýdlantu and Větrov are administrative parts of Frýdlant. Geography Frýdlant is located about northwest of Liberec, in a salient region of Frýdlant Hook, close to the border with Poland. It lies mostly in the Frýdlant Hills. ''Leaving'' ( cs, Odcházení) is a 2011 Czech drama film written and directed by Václav Havel, based on his play of the same name, an absurdist look at the life of an ex-politician. The film received two Czech Lion awards. Background ''Leaving'' is the only film directed by former Czech president and playwright Václav Havel. It was released in cinemas on 24 March 2011, and broadcast by Czech Television on 18 December, the day of Havel's death. The film received nominations in all major feature film categories in the 2011 Czech Lion Awards, winning two: Best Editing (Jiří Brožek) and Best Screenplay (Havel). It was screened within the ''Forum'' section of the 2011 Berlinale and at the second ''Festival du film Czech-in'', Paris. ''Medieval'' (''Jan Žižka'' or ''Warrior of God'') is a 2022 English-language Czech historical drama film directed by Petr Jákl. It is about the life of Jan Žižka, a Bohemian military commander who never lost a battle. The film is set prior to the Hussite Wars (1419–1434), when Žižka was young. It tells the story of how Žižka became a famous military commander. With a budget of KČ500 million ($20.3 million), it is the most expensive Czech film ever made. Plot In the 14th century, Wenceslas IV is the king of Bohemia and Roman emperor at the same time. Karel Čapek
Karel Čapek (; 9 January 1890 – 25 December 1938) was a Czech writer, playwright and critic. He has become best known for his science fiction, including his novel '' War with the Newts'' (1936) and play '' R.U.R.'' ''Insects'' ( cs, Hmyz) is a surreal comedy film directed by Jan Švankmajer, the film is based on the play ''Pictures from the Insects' Life'' by Karel and Josef Čapek.
