Jamil Muhammad Ismail al-Majdalawi ( ar, جميل محمد اسماعيل المجدلاوي, born 1946) is a leading member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council. The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine ( ar, الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين, translit=al-Jabhah al-Sha`biyyah li-Taḥrīr Filasṭīn, PFLP) is a secular Palestinian Marxist–Leninist and revolutionary socialist organization founded in 1967 by George Habash. It has consistently been the second-largest of the groups forming the Palestine Liberation Organization (the PLO, founded in 1964), the largest being Fatah (founded in 1959). Ahmad Sa'adat has served as General Secretary of the PFLP since 2001. He was sentenced in December 2006 to 30 years in an Israeli prison. The Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) is the unicameral legislature of the Palestinian Authority, elected by the Palestinian residents of the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. It currently comprises 132 members, elected from 16 electoral districts of the Palestinian Authority. The PLC has a quorum requirement of two-thirds, and since 2006 Hamas and Hamas-affiliated members have held 74 of the 132 seats in the PLC. Simsim ( ar, سمسم), known to the Crusades, Crusaders as Semsem, was a Palestinian people, Palestinian village, located northeast of Gaza City, Gaza. It was depopulated just prior to the outbreak of 1948 Arab-Israeli war.
