Jamie Sparks (singer)
Jamie Sparks (born in Cherry Brook, Nova Scotia) is a Canadian R&B and soul singer, songwriter, record producer and musician playing bass and keyboards. In 2002, he was nominated for a Juno Award for Best R&B/Soul Recording at the Juno Awards of 2002. In 2010, he won the "R&B Artist of the Year" at the Independent Music Awards in Canada and the "Single Track Recording of the Year" at the 2010 East Coast Music Awards (ECMA). Montreal Jazz Festival gave him the "Award of Excellence - the Professional Publishers and Songwriter Award." He has also won eight East Coast Music Awards in Canada and two African Nova Scotian Music Awards. He is best known for his singles ''Tender Love'' and ''Unforgettable''. Cherry Brook, Nova Scotia
Cherry Brook is a predominantly African Canadian rural community located to the north of Trunk 7 between Lake Loon and Lake Major, and just a few kilometers east of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Cherry Brook is a rural community with a few small farms. Most of the people work at trades in the Halifax Regional Municipality communities of Dartmouth and Halifax. The Baptist Church is the glue that keeps residents together. On Trunk 7 is located the Black Cultural Centre which contains meeting rooms and facilities to meet community needs for meetings and other events. It is a showplace for historical documents and other collections that tell the story of the early development of the Prestons and the many Black families who live in Black communities throughout Nova Scotia. The Juno Awards of 2002 were presented in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada during the weekend of 13–14 April 2002. Nominations were announced 11 February 2002 at a news conference hosted by Mike Bullard. Awards for the secondary categories were presented in a non-televised gala on 13 April. The primary ceremonies were conducted on 14 April at Mile One Stadium and televised by CTV, the first time for the private broadcaster. CBC Television had previously held the broadcast rights for the primary Juno ceremonies. The Festival International de Jazz de Montréal ( en, Montreal International Jazz Festival) is an annual jazz festival held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The Montreal Jazz Fest holds the 2004 Guinness World Record as the world's largest jazz festival.
