Jamie McLeod-Skinner
Jamie McLeod-Skinner (born May 31, 1967) is an American attorney, engineer, and politician who was the Democratic nominee for in the 2022 election. In an upset, McLeod-Skinner defeated seven-term incumbent Blue Dog representative Kurt Schrader in the Democratic primary for Oregon's 5th, in a race in which she was considered the more progressive candidate. She later lost the general election to Republican former Happy Valley mayor Lori Chavez-DeRemer. Early life and education McLeod-Skinner was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. When she was nine, her mother, Marty Hall, moved to teach school in Tanzania. She attended elementary and high school there and in Kenya. She moved in 1983 to Ashland, Oregon. She holds the girls' 800-meter track record at Ashland High School from which she graduated in 1985. Happy Valley is a suburban city in the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area. Happy Valley is near the northwest edge of Clackamas County, Oregon, United States approximately 10 miles to the southeast of downtown Portland, Oregon. The population was 23,733 at the 2020 census. Talent is a city in Jackson County, Oregon, United States. The population was 6,282 at the 2020 census. History A. P. Tallent, an East Tennessee native who settled in Oregon in the 1870s, platted the city in the 1880s. He wanted to name it ''Wagner'' but was overruled by postal officials, who preferred ''Talent'', dropping one of the L's. The post office opened at this location in 1883. Phoenix, Oregon
Phoenix is a city in Jackson County, Oregon, United States. The population was 4,538 at the 2010 census. Phoenix is a part of the Medford Metropolitan Statistical Area, in the Rogue Valley, and is southeast of Medford on Interstate 5. History The area was settled in about 1850 by brothers Hiram and Samuel Colver. Samuel Colver laid out the town in 1854. Early residents included Milton Lindley, who operated a sawmill that provided timbers in 1855 for a blockhouse as well as a flouring mill owned by Sylvester M. Wait. Kosovo War
The Kosovo War was an armed conflict in Kosovo that started 28 February 1998 and lasted until 11 June 1999. It was fought by the forces of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (i.e. Serbia and Montenegro), which controlled Kosovo before the war, and the Kosovo Albanians, Kosovo Albanian rebel group known as the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). Ashland High School (AHS) is a public high school in Ashland, Oregon, United States, near the Southern Oregon University campus. History Fire On June 3, 2006 at 2:30 pm, a fire broke out in the AHS room behind the gym during a farewell assembly for the seniors. Students and teachers were evacuated. The gym was heavily damaged and Mountain Avenue was closed for hours. No one was hurt during the fire.
