Jamia Imam Muhammad Anwar Shah is an Islamic seminary situated in Deoband, Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. History Jamia Imam Muhammad Anwar Shah was established by Anzar Shah Kashmiri in 1997. Islamic University
The term "Islamic university" ( ar, الجامعة الإسلامية, ''Jami'ah Islamiyah''), sometimes called madrasah jāmiʿah ( ar, مدرسة جامعة), can be used to describe secular educational institutions that were founded by people of Islamic tradition as well as institutions that focus on teaching Islam as a main curriculum. Anzar Shah Kashmiri
Anzar Shah Kashmiri (1927-2008) was an Indian Islamic scholar who established the Jamia Imam Anwar Shah and co-founded the Darul Uloom Waqf in Deoband. Shah was an alumnus of the Darul Uloom Deoband. He was youngest son of Hanafi scholar Anwar Shah Kashmiri. Biography Anzar Shah Kashmiri was born at Deoband on 6 December 1927. His father Anwar Shah Kashmiri was a scholar of ahadith. He graduated from the Darul Uloom Deoband where he studied with Izaz Ali Amrohi and Hussain Ahmed Madani. In 1982, Shah co-founded the Darul Uloom Waqf, Deoband. He established the Jamia Imam Anwar Shah in 1997. He was appointed the vice president of the Uttar Pradesh Congress in 2004. He received the Presidential Certificate of Honor in 2003 for his contributions to the Arabic language and literature. Deoband
Deoband is a town and a municipality in Saharanpur district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India, about 150 km from Delhi. Darul Uloom Deoband, an Islamic seminary and one of the largest Islamic Institution of India is located there. Etymology The native Hindi-Urdu name for the place is "Devband". According to one theory, it derives from " devi" (goddess) and "van" (forest), when this place was full of forests in the Mahabharata-era. Anwar Shah Kashmiri (known with honorifics as ''Sayyid Muḥammad Anwar Shāh ibn Mu‘aẓẓam Shāh al-Kashmīrī''; 16 November 1875 – 28 May 1933) was a Kashmiri Muslim scholar and jurist who served as the first principal of Madrasa Aminia and the fourth principal of the Darul Uloom Deoband. Dars-i Nizami is a study curriculum or system used in many Islamic institutions (madrassas) and Dar Ul Ulooms, which originated in the Indian subcontinent in the 18th century and can now also be found in parts of South Africa, Canada, the United States, the Caribbean and the UK. Fuzail Ahmad Nāsirī (born 13 May 1978) is an Indian Islamic scholar, Urdu writer and poet, who is a professor of hadith and vice-administrator of education at the Jamia Imam Muhammad Anwar Shah. Deobandi is a revivalist movement within Sunni Islam, adhering to the Hanafi school of law, formed in the late 19th century around the Darul Uloom Madrassa in Deoband, India, from which the name derives, by Muhammad Qasim Nanautavi, Rashid Ahmad Gangohi, and several others, after the Indian Rebellion of 1857–58.
