Jamesville Beach Park
Jamesville Beach Park is an Onondaga County park in LaFayette, New York, just south of the hamlet of Jamesville. A lifeguard oversees the 100 yards of waterfront that includes both shallow and deep areas. Activities Jamesville Beach Park offers a wide range of facilities including athletic fields, disc golf, playgrounds, swimming, trails, and volleyball. Dogs are allowed to be off-leash in designated areas, however must be leashed on the hiking trails. LaFayette, New York
LaFayette is a town in Onondaga County, New York, United States. Its population was 4,952 at the 2010 census. The town is named after the Marquis de Lafayette, a national hero of both France and the United States. LaFayette is in the southern part of Onondaga County, south of Syracuse. History The town is within the former Central New York Military Tract, but was partly in an area reserved for members of the Onondaga tribe. The first settler arrived around 1797. The land was purchased from the Onondagas in 1817 and resold to settlers. The Town of LaFayette was formed in 1825 from parts of the Towns of Pompey and Onondaga after the Marquis de Lafayette famously toured the United States in 1824/1825. Every year, the town holds an Apple Festival on the Saturday and Sunday before Columbus Day. Disc golf, also known as frisbee golf, is a flying disc sport in which players throw a disc at a target; it is played using rules similar to golf. Most disc golf discs are made out of polypropylene plastic, otherwise known as polypropene, which is a thermoplastic polymer resin used in a wide variety of applications. Discs are also made using a variety of other plastic types that are heated and molded into individual discs. The sport is usually played on a course with 9 or 18 holes (baskets). Players complete a hole by throwing a disc from a tee pad or area toward a target, known as a basket, throwing again from where the previous throw landed, until the basket is reached. An Ironman Triathlon is one of a series of long-distance triathlon races organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC), consisting of a swim, a bicycle ride and a marathon run completed in that order, a total of . It is widely considered one of the most difficult one-day sporting events in the world. Most Ironman events have a time limit of 16 or 17 hours to complete the race, course dependent, with the race typically starting at 7:00am. DeWitt is a town in Onondaga County, New York, United States. As of the 2020 census, the town's population was 26,074. The town is named after Major Moses DeWitt, a judge and soldier. An eastern suburb of Syracuse, DeWitt also is "the site of most of the campus and all of the academic buildings of Le Moyne College". History DeWitt was part of the Central New York Military Tract.
