James Wilkes
James Robert Wilkes (born April 1, 1958) is an American former professional basketball player. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Wilkes was raised in Los Angeles, where he attended Susan Miller Dorsey High School. In his senior year, he was named 1976 Los Angeles City Section 4A co-player of the year as he led Dorsey to the city championship. Wlikes then attended UCLA; as a 6'7" forward, he was regarded as a defensive specialist and was often assigned to guard the opponent's top scoring forward. In the third round of the 1980 NBA draft, Wilkes was selected by the Chicago Bulls. Jimmy Wilkes
James Eugene Wilkes (October 1, 1925 – August 11, 2008), nicknamed "Seabiscuit", was a professional baseball outfielder. He played in Negro league baseball for the Newark Eagles from 1945 to 1948. He was a member of the 1946 Negro World Series championship team, and was an All-Star in 1948. In 1949 and 1950, Wilkes played for the Houston Eagles of the Negro American League. He then played in Minor League Baseball from 1950 through 1952 in the Brooklyn Dodgers organization. After only appearing in nine minor-league games in 1952, he returned to the Negro American League with the Indianapolis Clowns that season. Wilkes subsequently played with the Brantford Red Sox of Southern Ontario from 1953 through 1963. In five of those seasons, the Red Sox were champions of the Intercounty Baseball League. Legal career Wilkes and his firm Wilkes & McHugh, P.A. gained national recognition for handling nursing home abuse and neglect lawsuits. He has been featured in ''People'' magazine, as well as on television shows such as ''Dateline'', ''48 Hours'' and ''CBS Evening News''. ''Long-Term Living'' magazine wrote that Wilkes could be "described as a 'holy terror' for nursing home administrators everywhere" in an article that named him one of the top 10 most influential people in the industry.
