James Watkins (abolitionist)
James Watkins ( – unknown), was an African American author and abolitionist. After managing to escape from slavery, Watkins travelled to the United Kingdom, where he gave several lectures against American slavery. Early life Watkins was born into slavery as Sam Berry about 1823The memoir of 1852 says "about 1821", the memoir of 1860 "about 1823". on "Mr. Abraham Ensor's plantation, about six miles from Cuckerville,Mary Ellen Snodgrass, The Underground Railroad, calls this place Cockeysville. Baltimore Co., Maryland." His mother was Milcah Berry. His father, Amos Salisbury, was the overseer of the plantation. Watkins describes him as a "cruel and severe disciplinarian" who never recognized Watkins as his son. Salisbury died about 1836. In the first edition of his slave narrative, Watkins states, "I well remember how glad I felt at having got rid of such a cruel overseer", but in the second edition that sentence about his feelings at the death of his father is left out. James Raymond Watkins (born October 21, 1956) is an American anchor and journalist. Career Watkins was previously employed by WPIX-TV from October 26, 1998, to October 9, 2011, where he was the weeknight anchor for PIX11 News at Ten for 11 years. During Watkins' career as a New York City news anchor he also worked for WNBC-TV (weekends) and alongside WPIX's Kaity Tong for 14 years. While working at WPIX, Watkins received three Emmy awards and an Edward R. Murrow Award for Broadcast Excellence. James Arthur Watkins (born November 1963) is an American businessman, QAnon conspiracy theorist, and the operator of the imageboard website 8chan/8kun and textboard website 5channel. Watkins founded the company N.T. Technology in the 1990s to support a Japanese pornography website he created while he was enlisted in the United States Army. After leaving the Army to focus on the company, Watkins moved to the Philippines. In February 2014, Watkins became the operator of 2channel after he seized it from its creator and original owner, Hiroyuki Nishimura.
