James Veitch (comedian)
James Veitch () is an English comedian. He has mostly been known for his interactions with the authors of scam emails (known as scam baiting) using slideshows and video effects. In September 2020, Veitch was the subject of more than a dozen allegations of rape and sexual assault. Career Veitch worked as a film editor on the 2006 film ''Papa Joe'' and as a digital intermediate conform artist on the 2008 movie '' Middle of Nowhere''. In 2009, Veitch adapted John Keats's writings into a play for Keats House. Veitch's first solo comedy show, ''The Fundamental Interconnectedness of Everyone with an Internet Connection'', was launched at Brighton Fringe in May 2014 as part of the arts industry showcase WINDOW. The show ran in August at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. It concerned scam emails, Veitch's humorous responses to them, and the nature of the Internet. James Veitch, Lord Elliock
James Veitch, Lord Elliock FRSE (25 September 1712 – 1 July 1793) was a Scottish advocate, judge, politician and landowner who became a Senator of the College of Justice. Life He was born in Edinburgh in September 1712, the son of Christian Thomson, daughter of Gavin Thomson, Provost of Peebles, and William Veitch of Elliock House near Dumfries, a Writer to the Signet (WS) who died in 1747. Veitch studied law at the University of Edinburgh, Leyden University and Halle University. While in Germany he met and apparently befriended Frederick the Great. James Veitch (horticulturist)
James Veitch (25 January 1792 – May 1863) was the second in a long line of horticulturists who established the renowned family business Veitch Nurseries. Veitch was the youngest son of John Veitch and his wife, Anna Davidson. James was a natural gardener and he helped his father on the Killerton estate from a very early age. When Sir Thomas Dyke Acland, 10th Baronet resurrected the landscaping projects at Killerton, James introduced many of his own ideas and working methods, and some of the mature Spanish chestnuts and beech trees on the estate are a testament to this work. The Budlake nursery continued to flourish, and in 1832 with James now at the helm, the nursery was expanded with the purchase of of land at Mount Radford on the Topsham Road, Exeter. This was followed by the first of a number of shops or seed warehouses in the city centre area, with the first at 54 High Street and the last at the site of the Well House Inn in Cathedral Yard. James Herbert Veitch
James Herbert Veitch F.L.S., F.R.H.S. (1 May 1868 – 13 November 1907), was a member of the Veitch family who were distinguished horticulturists and nursery-men for over a century. Early days James was born at Chelsea, London, the elder son of John Gould Veitch (1839–1870) and his wife Jane Hodge. His father died of tuberculosis shortly after he was born and the family nursery based in Chelsea was afterwards managed by his uncle, Harry. He was educated at Crawford College, Maidenhead, and in technical subjects in Germany and France, beginning work at the Chelsea, London branch of the family nursery in 1885. He was elected fellow of the Linnean Society in 1889 and was also a fellow of the Royal Horticultural Society. James Veitch (1808–1879) was a minister of the Church of Scotland and noted astronomer and geologist.
