James Stanley Scott
Air Commodore James Stanley Scott (18 February 1889 – 19 July 1975) was a leading figure in the pre-World War II Royal Canadian Air Force and a Royal Flying Corps officer during World War I. Career Scott was born in Roberval, Quebec in 1889 and graduated from Quebec High School. In March 1916 Scott was seconded from the Canadian Artillery to the Royal Flying Corps. Only four months later in July 1916, while serving as a lieutenant, Scott was awarded the Military Cross for attacking a train well behind the German lines even though his aircraft was very badly damaged by enemy fire. He transferred to the Royal Air Force in 1918 and after the Armistice he was awarded the Air Force Cross. After the War Scott returned to Canada, and after promotion to wing commander, he served as the Officer Commanding the Canadian Air Force from 1921 to 1922. Roberval, Quebec
Roberval is a city on the south-western shore of Lac Saint-Jean in the Le Domaine-du-Roy Regional County Municipality of Quebec, Canada. With a population of 9,840 in the Canada 2021 Census, it is the fourth largest city on this lake after Alma, Dolbeau-Mistassini and Saint-Félicien. It is the seat of the Domaine-du-Roy RCM and the main service centre for the region with a hospital and some government services. It is also the seat of the judicial district of Roberval. It is the only Lac Saint-Jean town whose core is directly on the lakeshore. Benoît Bouchard, former cabinet Minister and Canadian Ambassador in France, and Michel Gauthier, former federal Leader of the Opposition, represented the area in the federal parliament. James Howden MacBrien
Major General Sir James Howden MacBrien (30 June 1878 – 5 March 1938) was a Canadian soldier and Chief of the General Staff, the head of the Canadian Militia (renamed the Canadian Army in 1940) from 1920 until 1927. Military career Educated in Port Perry, MacBrien initially joined the Canadian Militia with the 34th Ontario Regiment but then transferred to the North-West Mounted Police and, during the Second Boer War, to the South African Constabulary. Returning to Canada he was commissioned into the Royal Canadian Dragoons. He also served in World War I as a General Staff Officer and then, from 1916, as commanding officer of 12th Infantry Brigade. After the war he was appointed Chief of the General Staff. He also served as the eighth Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, from August 1, 1931 to March 5, 1938.
