James Alexander Sinclair (born 22 October 1987) is an English former footballer who played as a full back or winger. He played in the Premier League and the UEFA Cup for Bolton Wanderers. Career As a schoolboy, Sinclair was both a promising track and field athlete – he came second in the English Schools' championships at 200 metres, won a Scottish decathlon title, and set an under-15 United Kingdom indoor record for the 50 metres – and a prolific goalscorer. James Hugh Sinclair (16 October 1876 – 23 February 1913) was a South African cricketer who played in 25 Test cricket, Test matches from 1896 to 1911. He scored South Africa cricket team, South Africa's first three Test Century (cricket), centuries and was the first person from any country to score a century and take five wickets in an innings in the same Test. James Sinclair, (May 26, 1908 – February 7, 1984) was a Canadian politician and businessman. He was the maternal grandfather of current Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Early life Sinclair was born in Crossroads, Grange, Banffshire, Scotland, the son of James George Sinclair (March 9, 1879; Wick, Scotland – March 18, 1962; Vancouver) and Betsy Sinclair née Ross (December 12, 1878; Evanton, Scotland – September 18, 1959; Vancouver). He moved to Vancouver with his family in 1911 where his father, who had already immigrated a year earlier, was among the founders of Vancouver Technical Secondary School, the area's first vocational school, and served as the school's second principal from 1930 until 1944. Sinclair studied engineering at the University of British Columbia and was awarded a Rhodes scholarship in 1928 to study mathematics at St John's College, in the University of Oxford. James Sinclair (1811 – March 26, 1856) was a trader and explorer with the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC). He twice led large parties of settlers from the Red River Colony to the Columbia River valley. These were both authorized by the HBC as a part of grandiose plans to strengthen British claims in the Oregon boundary dispute. Early life James Sinclair was born in 1811 in Rupert's Land. James Sinclair is an American classical conductor. Sinclair studied at Indiana University, taught at the University of Hawaii, then moved to New Haven, Connecticut in 1972, where he joined Yale University. Sinclair has been the Music Director of Orchestra New England from 1974 to the present. He was also music director of the Yale Symphony Orchestra from 1994 to 1995. Sinclair is notably a specialist in the music of Charles Ives; he has "spent iswhole adult life devoted to the music of Charles Ives." He has published ''A Descriptive Catalogue of the Music of Charles Ives'' with the Yale University Press and served as music director for a number of PBS documentaries, including ''A Good Dissonance Like a Man'', about Ives. James Sinclair, 12th Earl of Caithness was a Scottish noble, Earl of Caithness and chief of the Clan Sinclair, a Highland Scottish clan. James Sinclair was born at Barrogill Castle ( Castle of Mey) on 31 May 1766. He was the son of Sir John Sinclair of Mey, Baronet who he succeeded in the baronetcy in 1774. He succeeded as 12th earl of Caithness in 1789, as nearest lawful male heir of William Sinclair, 2nd Earl of Caithness. His claim to the peerage was sustained by the House of Lords. He was lord-lieutenant of the county of Caithness and lieutenant-colonel of the Ross-shire militia. James Sinclair, 14th Earl of Caithness, (16 August 1821 – 28 March 1881), styled Lord Berriedale from 1823 to 1855, was a Scotland, Scottish Liberal Party (UK), Liberal politician, scientist and inventor. Life Caithness was the son of Alexander Sinclair, 13th Earl of Caithness, and his wife Frances Harriet, daughter of the Very Reverend William Leigh, Dean of Hereford. He inherited the title in 1855 on the death of his father. He was a Vice-Admiral of Caithness, tutor to Edward, Prince of Wales, (the future Edward VII) and was a Lord in Waiting to Queen Victoria - 1856–58, and 1859–66. Queen Victoria created him the 1st Baron Barrogill, in 1866, taking the Barony's name from the Castle of Mey which was then known as Barrogill Castle. James Sinclair (1913–1968) was a Scottish botanist, who worked at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Life Sinclair was born in the Bu of Hoy Orkney, Scotland on 29 November 1913. He received a degree in botany from the Edinburgh University. He served as a radar operator in the Royal Air Force from 1941 to 1945. In 1968 he succumbed to cancer and was buried in Hoy. Work He was a botanist at the Edinburgh Royal Botanical Garden where he oversaw the herbarium. In 1948 he became the herbarium curator at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. In ''The Scots Peerage'' by James Balfour Paul he is designated as the 7th Lord Sinclair in descent starting from William Sinclair, 1st Earl of Caithness and 3rd Earl of Orkney, but historian Roland Saint-Clair designates him as the 8th Lord Sinclair in descent from the father of the 1st Earl of Caithness and 3rd Earl of Orkney, Henry II Sinclair, Earl of Orkney, who is the first person recorded as Lord Sinclair in public records. Roland Saint-Clair references this to an Act of the Scottish Parliament in which the 4th Lord Sinclair was made Lord Sinclair based on his descent from his great-grandfather, Henry II Sinclair, Earl of Orkney, the first Lord Sinclair. General The Hon. James St Clair (1688 – 30 November 1762) was a Scottish soldier and Whig politician. Background St Clair was the second son of Henry St Clair, 10th Lord Sinclair and his wife Grizel Cockburn, daughter of Sir James Cockburn, 1st Baronet. As a child he received a commission into the 1st Battalion, Royal Regiment of Foot. Military career St Clair became an ensign of 6th Regiment of Foot in 1694, however was set on halfpay in 1713. In the next year, he was admitted to the 3rd Foot Guards and was promoted to captain in 1714. He served as 2nd major of his regiment from 1722 and as 1st major from 1725, having been advanced to the rank of brevet colonel two years before. In 1734, St Clair was appointed to the command of the 22nd Regiment of Foot and three years later he was transferred to the colonelship of the Royal Regiment of Foot (later renamed as 1st (Royal) Regiment of Foot), which he held until his death.
