James Sherman (comics)
James Sherman (b. 1948) is an artist known for his work in American comic books, movies, and logos. Career James Sherman is an artist and colorist who worked for DC Comics and Marvel Comics in the 1970s and 1980s. His first professional comics art appeared in ''Tarzan Family'' #65 and ''Blackhawk'' #248 (both cover dated Sept.–Oct. 1976). He drew the Challengers of the Unknown lead feature in ''Super-Team Family'' #8–10 in collaboration with writer Steve Skeates and inker Jack Abel. Sherman is best known for his pencil work on ''Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes'' in the late 1970s, when he took over as regular artist following Mike Grell. He and writer Paul Levitz introduced the Dawnstar character in ''Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes'' #226 (April 1977). Sherman's run ended halfway through the multiple issue "Earthwar" story arc due to his displeasure with the direction of the storyline. James Sherman (minister)
The Rev. James Sherman (21 February 1796 – 15 February 1862), was an English Congregationalist minister. He was an abolitionist, and a popular preacher at The Castle Street Chapel in Reading from 1821 to 1836. He and his second wife Martha Sherman made a success of Surrey Chapel, Blackfriars, London from 1836−54. Martha died in 1848. Sherman was successor at the Surrey Chapel to Rowland Hill. Although he was subsequently became known as a Congregationalist, Sherman was originally ordained to the Countess of Huntingdon's Connexion. Early life The son of an officer in the East India Company, he was born in Banner Street, St. Luke's, London, on 21 February 1796. After some education from dissenting ministers, he spent three years and a half as apprentice to an ivory-turner. Sherman entered, on 6 November 1815, the Countess of Huntingdon's Cheshunt College. James Sherman (25 March 1791 at Crayford, Kent – 21 June 1831 at Mitcham, Surrey) was an English professional cricketer. He was the younger brother of John Sherman and the father of Tom Sherman. James Morgan Sherman
James Morgan Sherman (March 6, 1890, Ash Grove, Fairfax County, Virginia – November 5, 1956) was an American professor of bacteriology and dairy industry. He was the president of the American Society for Microbiology in 1937. Education and career Sherman attended primary school in Virginia and secondary school in Washington, D.C. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a B.S. in 1911 and from University of Wisconsin–Madison (UWM) with an M.S. in 1912 and with a Ph.D. in bacteriology in 1916. His thesis ''Studies on soil protozoa and their relation to the bacterial flora'' was supervised by Edwin George Hastings. Sherman worked as an assistant in bacteriology from 1913 to 1914 at UWM. In 1914, two years before receiving his Ph.D., he left Wisconsin for employment in Pennsylvania. Jim Sherman (baseball)
James Herbert Sherman is an American baseball coach and former outfielder and third baseman. He played college baseball at Delaware for coach Bob Hannah from 1979 to 1982 and played in the Houston Astros organization for 6 seasons from 1982 to 1987. He then served as the head coach of the Wilmington Wildcats (1988–1994) and the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens (2001–2022). Amateur career Sherman attended William Penn High School in New Castle, Delaware. Sherman played for the school's varsity baseball and football teams. Sherman then enrolled at the University of Delaware, to play college baseball for the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens baseball team. As a freshman at the University of Delaware in 1979, Sherman had a .367 batting average, a .419 on-base percentage (OBP) and a .623 SLG. He was named to the first team All-East Coast Conference (ECC). As a sophomore in 1980, Sherman batted .328 with a .661 SLG, 13 home runs, and 56 RBIs.
