James Shand
Major James Barclay Shand VD (1870 – 21 December 1944) was an Australian politician. Born at Pyrmont to joiner George Sand and Elizabeth, ''née'' Burns, Shand was educated at Fort Street Public School before working as a clerk with Harrison, Jones and Devlin, a wool and stock firm. He married Ann Donald in 1896, with whom he had three children, and served on Drummoyne Council from 1905 to 1911. He eventually became secretary of Harrison, Jones and Devlin and oversaw its amalgamation with Goldsbrough Mort & Co. After visiting the United Kingdom and Europe in 1914, he enlisted with the Australian Imperial Force in 1915, and served with the Mining Corps until he was invalided home in 1917 and stationed at Molongolo Concentration Camp as the quartermaster. In 1922, he received the Volunteer Officers' Decoration. He was secretary of the Master Butchers' Federation until 1926. William FitzSimons
William Robert FitzSimons (26 November 1870 – 20 March 1926) was an Irish-born Australian politician. He was born at Greencastle in County Donegal to constable Samuel FitzSimons and Isabella, ''née'' McCloy. He arrived in New South Wales around 1886 and began studying dentistry. He married Bessie Amy Love, with whom he had two children. He practised as a dentist in Elizabeth and Macquarie Streets from 1905 to 1926, and also served on Kuringai Shire Council from 1911 to 1922 (president 1917–21). Eric Hearnshaw
Eric Hearnshaw (21 May 1893 – 20 July 1967) was an Australian politician and a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1945 until 1965. He was a member of the Liberal Party. Hearnshaw was born in Sheffield, England, the son of a tool manufacturer, and was educated to elementary level. He came to Australia as an assisted migrant in 1914 and was initially trained to be a farmer. Hearnshaw served in the First Australian Imperial Force in the Middle East between 1915 and 1919 and was awarded the Military Medal. After repatriation, he studied accountancy and public administration and was employed in public and private practice as an administrator. He was involved in community groups in the Ryde region including Legacy, Rotary and the Freemasons. Hearnshaw was elected to the New South Wales Parliament as the Liberal Party member for Ryde at the 1945 by-election in February, which was caused by the death of the sitting, independent conservative member James Shand. ... Arthur Williams (Australian Politician)
Arthur John Leonard Williams (17 December 1888 – 30 September 1968) was an Australian politician and a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1940 until 1956. He was a member of the Labor Party (ALP). Williams was born in Paddington, New South Wales and was the son of a hotel broker. He was educated at the Marist Brothers' School, Paddington and qualified as an accountant, opening his own accountancy company and specialising in the auditing of trade unions. Williams was elected to the parliament as the Labor member for Ryde at the 1940 by-election caused by the resignation of the United Australia Party member, Eric Spooner who successfully contested the seat of Robertson at the 1940 federal election. He defeated the UAP candidate by 220 votes. At the 1941 election, following an unfavourable redistribution Williams chose to contest the safer seat of Georges River. Sydney Albert Dawson Storey (27 February 1896 – 11 September 1966) was an Australian politician and a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly between 1941 and 1962. In parliament he variously represented the United Australia Party, the Liberal Party and served two terms as a conservative independent. Storey was born in Balmain, New South Wales and was educated at Cleveland Street High School and the University of Sydney. He was initially employed as a clerk but trained as a draftsman and eventually became a hospital administrator. He was an executive of the New South Wales Hospital association and the Hospital Contributions Fund, a co-operative health insurance provider. Between 1930 and his death, Storey was elected as a Councillor on Hornsby Shire. He was the Shire President in 1933–34 and 1947–50. Robert Bruce Walker (6 November 1870 – 1 July 1932) was an Australian politician. He was born at Windsor to William Walker and Henrietta Medora, ''née'' Cooper. After attending Windsor Grammar School and Cooerwull Academy at Bowenfels he worked for the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney until he was articled in his father's legal firm. On 8 June 1895 he married Lucinda Isabel Rowthorn, with whom he had four sons. In 1899 he was admitted as a solicitor and became a partner in his father's firm. He also entered the military, rising to become a major in the Australian Light Horse. In 1917 he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as the independent member for Hawkesbury.
