James Stewart Martin (congressman)
James Stewart Martin (August 19, 1826 – November 20, 1907) was a U.S. Representative from Illinois. Biography Martin was born in Estillville (now Gate City), Scott County, Virginia, the son of John S. Martin and Melinda Morison. His father's second wife was Nancy Brownlow, making him a step-nephew of radical Tennessee governor William "Parson" Brownlow.Zella Armstrong, Notable Southern Families', Volume 1, (Chattanooga, Tenn.: The Lookout Publishing Co., 1918), p. 44. OCLC 1079125. Retrieved: 29 October 2012. He attended the common schools and Emory and Henry College in Emory, Virginia. He moved to Salem, Illinois, in 1846. James Stewart Martin (born December 10, 1911) was a United States Department of Justice attorney who served as the Chief of the Decartelization Branch for Military Government in Germany after World War II. His book ''All Honorable Men'' was published by Little Brown Little, Brown and Company is an American publishing company founded in 1837 by Charles Coffin Little and James Brown in Boston. For close to two centuries it has published fiction and nonfiction by American authors. Early lists featured Emily ... in 1950. In it, Martin catalogs the difficulties faced by his team trying to deconstruct the Nazi industrial machine, not the least of which was opposition to his efforts by his superior officer, an investment banker in peacetime.
