James Michael Roche (December 16, 1906 – June 6, 2004) was an American statistician who served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chairman of the Board at General Motors Corporation. He is credited for promoting racial equality within General Motors (GM). Early life and background Roche was born in Elgin, Illinois. James Roche, 3rd Baron Fermoy
James Boothby Burke Roche, 3rd Baron Fermoy (28 July 1851 – 30 October 1920), was a Member of Parliament in the British House of Commons, and he held a title in the Peerage of Ireland during the final two months of his life. He was a great-grandfather of Diana, Princess of Wales. Early life and career He was born in 1851 at Twyford Abbey, Middlesex, the son of Edmond Roche, 1st Baron Fermoy, and his wife Eliza Caroline ''née'' Boothby. He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge. In 1896, he stood as an Anti-Parnellite Irish National Federation candidate in the Kerry East by-election for a seat in the Parliament of the United Kingdom. The Nationalists had split into two factions after the party leader, Charles Stewart Parnell, was named as co-respondent in a divorce. James Jeffrey Roche
James Jeffrey Roche (May 31, 1847April 3, 1908) was an Irish-American poet, journalist and diplomat. Roche emigrated as a young child, and grew up in Prince Edward Island, Canada. He came to Boston in 1866, and joined the staff of the Irish newspaper. He became editor-in-chief in 1890, and was a leading spokesman for Catholic intellectuals in New England. When most Democrats in the region deserted William Jennings Bryan in 1896, Roche and the ''Boston Pilot'' gave Brian strong support. He served as Bishop of Ross from 1926 to 1931; Coadjutor Bishop of Cloyne and Titular Bishop of Sebastopolis in Armenia from 1931 to 1935; and Roman Catholic Bishop of Cloyne from 1935 until his death. Jim Roche (hurler)
James Roche (11 June 1909 – 23 April 1980) was an Irish hurler who played as a left wing-forward for the Limerick senior team. Roche joined the team during the 1933 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement almost a decade later. During that time he won three All-Ireland medals, five Munster medals and five National Hurling League medals. Roche was an All-Ireland runner-up on two occasions. Royal Cork Institution was an Irish cultural institution in the city of Cork from 1803 to 1885. It consisted of a library of scientific works, a museum with old Irish manuscripts and stones with ogham inscriptions, and lecture and reading rooms. A lack of funds resulted in its closure in 1885. Origins The Royal Cork Institution (RCI) was founded by Rev.
