Herbert James Reeves (1869 – 4 June 1937), also known as James Reeves or Captain Reeves, was an English football pioneer who is regarded as one of the most important figures in the amateur beginnings of football in Catalonia, being noted for his prominent role in promoting football in the city and as the undisputed leader and fundamental head behind the foundations of some of the earliest Catalan clubs in existence such as British Club de Barcelona and Sociedad de Foot-Ball de Barcelona, serving both teams as its captain. In addition to his leadership skills, he also stood out as a great striker, netting some of the very first goals in the history of Catalan football. James Edmund Reeves (April 5, 1829 – January 4, 1896) was a West Virginia physician and one of the leaders of the American public health movement in the nineteenth century. Reeves was the brother of Ann Reeves Jarvis, the woman who inspired the Mother's Day holiday in the United States. Biography Reeves was born in Amissville, Virginia on April 5, 1829 to Josiah Washington and Nancy Kemper Reeves. His initial education was mostly self-taught, with two years of medical apprenticeship and one session of medical college at Hampden Sidney (''sic'') in Richmond before he entered practice in Philippi, Virginia, in 1851. Reeves eventually received his MD degree from the University of Pennsylvania Medical College in 1860 and settled in Fairmont, Virginia, with his wife and four children. Jimmy Reeves (April 4, 1918December 1974) was an American boxer from Cleveland, Ohio. He won the 1939 light heavyweight championship. With records charting from the 1950s to the 1980s, he became well known as a practitioner of the Nashville Sound. James Earle Reeves (born June 7, 1993) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Chicago Dogs of the American Association of Professional Baseball.
