James Purcell (actor)
James Purcell is an American actor and filmmaker, who has worked predominantly in Canadian film and television. He is most noted for his starring role as Hector Stone in the television drama series '' Counterstrike'', for which he won the Gemini Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series at the 8th Gemini Awards in 1994. Originally from Steelton, Pennsylvania, Purcell had his earliest roles in American film and television before moving to Toronto, Ontario after being cast in the television film adaptation of Elmore Leonard's novel '' Glitz''. James Purcell (businessman)
James Purcell (25 November 1874 – 5 November 1953) was an Australian businessman of the early 20th century, mainly active in the dairy industry on the Darling Downs in Queensland. Early life Born in the town of Drayton, Purcell assisted his father, a farm-hand, in raising and farming dairy cattle. In 1897, he purchased land of his own near Westbrook and began dairy farming. Public roles Purcell was a founding member of The Downs Co-operative Dairy Company Ltd, the Queensland Butter Board, and was a member of the Queensland Dairy Products Stabilisation Board, serving as its chairman from 1930 to 1950, and also served as Vice-President of the Queensland Council of Agriculture. He also served as Chairman of the Clifton Shire Council from 1911 to 1912. James Purcell, also known by Zebulon Pike as James Pursley, was a hunter, trapper, and trader in the Louisiana Territory beginning in 1802. He traded with Native Americans in what is now Colorado and New Mexico until 1805 when he went to Santa Fe. Purcell was then a carpenter there until 1824. Early life Purcell was raised in Kentucky. He left Bardstown, Kentucky (Bairdstown) in 1799, heading west. Hunter and trapper Purcell was in St. Louis in 1802 when he headed west along the Missouri River and then south in the wilderness of the western Louisiana Territory. He traveled with two other men to hunt with the Osage Nation. In 1802, they were near the Osage River when they got into a skirmish with a Native American tribe in present-day Kansas. The three men trapped on the headwaters of the Osage River had several incidents with Native Americans, including Kanza and other people, they lost their horses. Some Kanza people stole their furs. James Desmond Purcell (born 7 January 1953) is an Australian politician. He was a Vote 1 Local Jobs member of the Victorian Legislative Council, having represented Western Victoria Region from 2014 to 2018. Early life Purcell was born and raised in Bessiebelle, in Victoria's Western District, by his parents Bernie and Bonnie Purcell. He grew up on the family farm with his five siblings. Purcell attended Heywood High School and earned his accounting qualification from Deakin University's Warrnambool campus whereupon he was admitted to the Charter of Professional Accountants.
