James Patton (Virginia Colonist)
James Lynn Patton, (1690 or 1692 - 30 July, 1755) was a merchant, pioneer frontiersman, and soldier who settled parts of Virginia's Shenandoah Valley. Between his immigration to Virginia in 1740, and his death there in 1755, he was a prominent figure in the exploration, settlement, governance, and military leadership of the colony. Patton held such Augusta County offices as Justice of the Peace, Colonel of Militia and Chief Commander of the Augusta County Militia, County Lieutenant, President of the Augusta Court, commissioner of the Tinkling Spring congregation, county coroner, county escheator, collector of duties on furs and skins, and County Sheriff. He also was President of the Augusta Parish Vestry and a member of the Virginia House of Burgesses. He was present at three important treaty conferences with Iroquois and Cherokee leaders. James French Patton
James French Patton (September 19, 1843 – March 30, 1882) was an American lawyer, Confederate army officer and Democratic politician who briefly served on the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia. Early and family life Patton was born in Richmond, Virginia on September 19, 1843 to former Congressman John M. Patton and his wife, the former Peggy French Williams of Richmond, Virginia. His great-grandfather was Gen. Hugh Mercer who fought at the Battle of Princeton in 1776. At age 14, Patton was enrolled in Andover Academy, but after Virginia seceded from the Union, he returned to his home state and became a lieutenant in the Confederate Army. In 1869, Patton married Malinda Caperton (1842-1922), the daughter of U.S. Senator Allen T. Caperton. They had two children, Harriet Echols Patton Edwards (1870-1929) and Allen Gilmer Patton (1871-1910). A. Jimmy Patton
James Russell Patton (born September 29, 1933 – December 22, 1972) was an American football defensive back in the National Football League (NFL) for the New York Giants. He was a five-time Pro Bowl selection and five-time first-team All-Pro. Patton played college football at the University of Mississippi and was drafted in the eighth round of the 1955 NFL Draft. On December 22, 1972, Patton was killed in an automobile accident near Villa Rica, Georgia. He was driving alone in his car when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle while attempting to pass another car. He was driving to Virginia to see his sister who was dying of cancer as reported by his sons. Patton is second in Giants history for most interceptions. Jim Patton (February 24, 1953—October 23, 2012) was an anthropologist and craft beer brewer. He was considered one of the pioneers in the craft beer brewing industry. He was one of the founders of the Abita Brewing Company in Abita Springs, Louisiana. James Gregory Patton (born January 5, 1970) is a former American football defensive lineman who played for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League (NFL) for two seasons, including and was on their roster when they went to Super Bowl XXVIII. Before that, he played college football at the University of Texas at Austin where he was a two-time All-Conference player and before that at Clear Creek High School in League City, Texas. James M. Patton (born ) was an American football player and coach. Patton played college football as a guard and quarterback at Oklahoma A&M for three years before graduating in 1938. After graduating, he served as the athletic director and football and basketball coach at Marietta, Oklahoma. One year later, he became the football and basketball coach at Sasakwa, Oklahoma. Two years later, he became an assistant football coach at Guthrie, Oklahoma. In the spring of 1942, Patton enlisted in the United States Navy. He played on the 1942 Great Lakes Navy Bluejackets football team. In 1943, he served as an instructor in the Navy's V-12 program at Washburn University. James "Squire" Patton House
The James "Squire" Patton House is located along the brief overlap of NY 207 and 300 in New Windsor, New York, United States. It is on a five-acre (2 ha) parcel owned by the nearby city of Newburgh, formerly used for police K-9 training. The house now sits abandoned and in a state of decay. It was built in 1790, although it is not known by whom. Patton, a prominent local farmer and landowner, bought the property as a young man a quarter-century later. It assumed its present form after several additions and renovations in the first 40 years of its existence. In 2008 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
