James Patrick (ice Hockey)
James Patrick (born June 14, 1963) is a Canadian professional ice hockey coach and former player. He is currently the head coach for the Winnipeg Ice of the Western Hockey League (WHL). Playing career After a successful collegiate career at the University of North Dakota, Patrick represented Canada at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. After the Olympics, Patrick signed his first professional contract on March 5, 1984 with the New York Rangers, and made his NHL debut two days later in Minnesota. Patrick scored his first NHL goal on March 17, 1984, in Philadelphia. Patrick enjoyed ten productive seasons in New York before being traded to the Hartford Whalers and then to the Calgary Flames during the 1993–94 season. After several years in Calgary, Patrick signed with the Buffalo Sabres as a free agent after the 1997–98 season. James Patrick (born June 7, 1982, in Tuskegee, Alabama) is a professional Canadian football safety who is currently a free-agent. He was most recently a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League. He was originally signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2006 and also spent time on the practice squad of the New England Patriots. He played college football at Stillman College. Professional career Saskatchewan Roughriders Patrick spent five seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders after signing as a free agent in 2008. James McIntosh Patrick, OBE RSA (4 February 1907 – 7 April 1998) was a Scottish painter, celebrated for his finely observed paintings of the Angus landscape and Dundee, Scotland, where he was based for most of his life. Life Born in Dundee, the son of Andrew Patrick, an architect and amateur artist who encouraged his son to draw and paint, Patrick studied painting at Glasgow School of Art from 1924 to 1928, studying with Maurice Greiffenhagen, and in Paris. He continued his interest in etching which was very popular in the 1920s and was to prove a source of income for him during the Depression years. A foremost landscape painter, he began his career producing highly finished etchings, but when the market for these collapsed in the 1930s he turned towards painting in watercolour and oil. Capt. James Ronald Patrick (1880 – 8 May 1945) was an Australian shipowner, born in Bothwell, Scotland; founder and governing director of James Patrick & Co. Pty. Ltd. and the Patrick Line of cargo ships. Early life He began his successful career by working his way to America at the age of 13. He worked for two years in a sailing ship, deserted in Hong Kong and joined an American sailer in Japan. In 1913 he was master of the Currie Line steamer ''Gracchus''. At the outbreak of World War I he joined the Royal Navy and in 1917 he was promoted to lieutenant commander. he took over command of the sloop , the last sailing vessel in the Royal Navy. James Patrick (born ) is the pseudonym of a Scottish sociologist, which he used to publish a book ''A Glasgow Gang Observed''. It attracted some attention in Scotland when it was published in 1973. It was based on research he had done in 1966, when he was aged 23. At that time he was working as a doctor in an approved school, a Scottish reformatory. One gang member in the school, "Tim Malloy" (born 1950, also a pseudonym and a generic term for a Glasgow Catholic), agreed to infiltrate him into his gang in Maryhill in Glasgow. Patrick spent four months as a gang member, observing their behaviour. ''A Glasgow Gang Observed'' was re-published in 2012 and 2013.
