James Owen (American Politician)
James Owen (December 7, 1784, Bladen County – September 4, 1865, Wilmington) was an American politician from North Carolina, a planter, major-general, businessman, and enslaver of Omar ibn Said. He was educated in private schools in Pittsburg. Subsequently, he was for many years president of the Wilmington and Raleigh Railroad and a major-general of the militia. His brother John Owen was governor of North Carolina. James Mason Owen
James Mason Owen (November 11, 1903 – July 12, 1972) served as mayor of Branson, Missouri, for 12 years. Jim Owen was an advertising manager for a Jefferson City newspaper before he came to the Ozarks in 1933 on a visit to Branson. He never left. Before he died in 1972, he had owned a drug store, movie theater and an auto dealership. He was president of a bank and wrote a fishing column for the Arkansas Gazette in Little Rock, AR. In addition, he owned champion fox hounds and bird dogs, produced his own brand of dog food, and owned a large dairy. But Jim Owen became known for his other business venture—he set up the largest and most successful Ozark float fishing operation of that day. His success sparked national attention, giving area tourism a big boost. James Alexander Owen
James Alexander Owen (September 6, 1891 – July 6, 1955) was an American medical doctor and politician from Mississippi who was also active in Cleveland and Detroit, Ohio. Owen was a member of the board of Trustees for the National Medical Association and was frequently credited for his efforts in the Journal of the National Medical Association. Owen served in World War I (as a part of the Medical Reserve Corps) in the 370th Infantry. Owen was the medical officer of the 366th Field Hospital in France and was charged to study the effects of radiology there. He eventually was ranked Captain before being discharged. Early life Owen was born on September 6, 1891, in Natchez, Mississippi into a Black family, to parents Samuel Henry Clay Owen and Sarah Josephine Mazique. Jimmy Owen (born 1864; date of death unknown) was an English footballer for Port Vale and Stoke during the 1880s. Career Owen probably joined Port Vale in 1884. His debut for the club came on 18 October 1884 in a home friendly with Aston Villa "A", which Vale won 2–0. He became a regular in the side and grabbed two goals in the 12–0 thrashing of Ironbridge in the Burslem Challenge Cup final on 21 March 1885. He also played in the North Staffordshire Charity Challenge Cup final that same year but departed at the end of the 1885–86 season to join Stoke, a founder club of the Football League in 1888. He had scored 17 goals in 56 games across all competitions for Port Vale. He played for Stoke during the 1889–90 season, scoring two goals in three Football League matches. James Vaughan Owen (born 14 January 1991) is a Welsh footballer who plays for Caernarfon Town. He began his career with Chester City, but left in January 2010 when the club experienced financial difficulties. Playing career Born in Caernarfon, Owen is a product of Chester's youth policy and has been capped by Wales at under 17 level. He made his debut in The Football League for Chester away at Port Vale as a late sub when Chester were down to nine men, with his first starting appearance coming at Accrington Stanley in April 2009. He ended the season with seven league appearances to his name, as Chester suffered relegation from Football League Two. In January 2010, he cancelled his contract with the club by mutual consent. After leaving the club, Owen joined Conference rivals Wrexham on trial, scoring in a 3–2 friendly win over Welsh Premier League side Airbus UK Broughton on 20 January.
