James Omingo Magara
James Omingo Magara (born September 20, 1961) is a Kenyan politician. He belongs to the Jubilee Party and was the MP for South Mugirango Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya from the year 2000 - 2009. He first won the seat in the by-elections in 2001 on Ford-Kenya ticket, replacing his brother Enoch Nyakieya Magara of Ford-Kenya, who had died in a car accident. He retained the seat at the 2002 elections, but now representing Ford-People, and in the 2007 elections representing ODM. He was the assistant minister of trade until December 2009 the High court of Kenya declared the South Mugirango parliamentary seat vacant due to irregularities in the election process, although Magara himself was not found guilty of any rigging. Jubilee Party
The Jubilee Party of Kenya was the ruling political party of the Republic of Kenya from 2016 until 13 September 2022. The party was founded on 8 September 2016, following the merger of 11 smaller parties. During the 2017 election, the Jubilee Party secured a plurality of seats in Parliament and the party leader, Uhuru Kenyatta, was re-elected president. 2007 Kenyan Parliamentary Election
General elections were held in Kenya on 27 December 2007. Voters elected the President, and members of the National Assembly. They coincided with the 2007 Kenyan local elections. Incumbent Mwai Kibaki, running on a Party of National Unity (PNU) ticket, defeated Raila Odinga, leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and Kalonzo Musyoka of Orange Democratic Movement–Kenya. The elections were strongly marked by ethnic hostility, with Kibaki a member of the traditionally dominant Kikuyu ethnic group, gaining much support amongst the Kikuyu and neighbouring groups in central Kenya, including the Embu and Meru. Odinga, as a member of the Luo ethnic group, succeeded in creating a wider base by building a coalition with regional leaders from the Luhya in Western Kenya, Kalenjin from the Rift Valley and Muslim leaders from the Coast Province. People's Democratic Party (Kenya)
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is a political party in Kenya. History The PDP was established in 1992. It won a single seat in the 2007 general elections, Richard Momoima Onyonka in Kitutu Chache Constituency. In 2010 Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MP James Omingo Magara defected to the party after the ODM did not nominate him as its candidate in the South Mugirango by-election, which was held after Magara's victory in the 2007 elections was annulled due to irregularities. However, Magara was defeated in the by-election. Onyonka defected to the ODM prior to the 2013 general elections, in which the PDP nominated 22 candidates. Raila Amolo Odinga (born 7 January 1945) is a Kenyan politician, former Member of Parliament (MP) for Langata and businessman who served as the Prime Minister of Kenya from 2008 to 2013.
