Erin's Own GAA (Cork)
Erin's Own GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Glounthaune in east County Cork, Ireland. The club is made up of players from Little Island, Knockraha, Brooklodge and Glounthaune areas of the parish. The club caters for players at all age levels in hurling, Gaelic football, camogie and ladies football. The club plays in the Imokilly division of Cork GAA. History Erin's Own GAA Club was founded in 1963 with the amalgamation of the two parish clubs, Knockraha and Little Island. The decision to form the new club was based on a desire to strengthen Gaelic games in the parish of Glounthaune by forming one strong unit where two weaker ones previously existed. UCC is a football and hurling club associated with University College Cork. UCC teams play in the Cork Senior Football Championship and Cork Senior Hurling Championship as well as the two main third-level competitions namely the Sigerson Cup in football, the Fitzgibbon Cup in hurling and the Ashbourne Cup in camogie. They also compete against inter-county sides in the pre-season McGrath Cup (football) and Waterford Crystal Cup (hurling). Glounthaune
Glounthaune () is a village in County Cork, Ireland, some east of Cork city, on the north shore of Cork Harbour, the estuary of the River Lee. Transport The village was originally a planned town built in 1810 on a tidal quay wall and named at that time "New Glanmire". It is served by the commuter railway line between Cork and Cóbh. The next station in the Cork direction is Little Island, while towards Cóbh the next stop is at Fota Island. Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. Cork Senior Hurling Team
The Cork county hurling team represents Cork in hurling and is governed by Cork GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Munster Senior Hurling Championship and the National Hurling League. Robbie O'Flynn
Robert O'Flynn (born 7 November 1997) is an Irish hurler who plays as a right corner-forward for club side Erin's Own and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. Playing career Christian Brothers College O'Flynn first came to prominence as a hurler with Christian Brothers College. Having played hurling in every grade during his time at the school, he usually lined out in the forwards on the senior team in the Harty Cup. University College Cork On 23 February 2019, O'Flynn was a substitute for University College Cork when they faced Mary Immaculate College in the Fitzgibbon Cup final. He was introduced in the 15th minute and claimed a winners' medal after the 2-21 to 0-13 victory. O'Flynn played in a second successive Fitzgibbon Cup final on 12 February 2020. The National Hurling League is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league.
