Jim Metcalf (footballer)
James Alfred Metcalf (12 December 1898 – 20 February 1975) was an English professional footballer who played as a wing half. He was born in Whitburn, County Durham, and as an adolescent he played local football with Sunderland Schoolboys and Sunderland Royal Rovers. He later played for Southwick, where he won several local amateur trophies. Metcalf was signed by Football League Second Division club South Shields in April 1920 and went on to play seven seasons with the Horsley Hill club, making 185 appearances and scoring twice. In June 1927 he joined Second Division rivals Preston North End on a free transfer. During a single season with the Lancashire club, he played in 16 league matches. The following summer Metcalf joined Third Division North side Nelson for a transfer fee of £250. Jim Metcalf
James M. Metcalf (May 11, 1920 – March 8, 1977) was a journalist for WWL-TV in New Orleans, Louisiana where he served as anchor/reporter. He later became the host of ''A Sunday Journal'' from 1973 until his death from cancer in 1977, which was considered a "class act" in bringing ordinary people and their hobbies and interests to television. In 1975, Jim and his show were awarded the Peabody Award for "good writing, excellent photography, and artistic presentation." James Metcalf (artist)
James "Jimmy" Metcalf (March 11, 1925 – January 27, 2012) was an American sculptor, artist and educator. Metcalf established and led a community for copper artisans in Santa Clara del Cobre, Michoacán, Mexico, from the 1970s until his death in 2012. Metcalf was born in New York City. His parents were both stained glass artists, most notably contributing to the windows for the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. Metcalf took up art and sculpture as a teenager. He enlisted in the 88th Infantry Division of the United States Army, nicknamed the Blue Devils, when he was 18 years old. Metcalf fought in northern Italy during World War II, and lost three of his fingers during combat at Furlo Pass. Metcalf attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia and then enrolled at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London. JJ Metcalf
James "JJ" Metcalf (born 27 July 1988) is an English professional boxer who has held the IBO super-welterweight title since May 2023. He previously held the Commonwealth super-welterweight title in 2019 and challenged for the British super-welterweight title in March 2021. He is the son of former boxer Shea Neary.
