James McManus
} James "Jim" McManus (born March 22, 1951) is an American teacher, writer and poker player living in Kenilworth, Illinois. He is a professor in the Master of Fine Arts program for writers at the Art Institute of Chicago. Poker and ''Positively Fifth Street'' McManus is best known as the author of the book '' Positively Fifth Street: Murderers, Cheetahs, and Binion's World Series of Poker'' (). The book is dedicated to his son, James McManus (1979–2001). The book is based on his trip to Las Vegas to cover the progress of women in the 2000 World Series of Poker (WSOP) and the death of Ted Binion. He used his advance to enter a satellite tournament for entry into the main event, defeating the likes of Hasan Habib to qualify for the seat. James McManus (born 15 January 1986) is a Scottish former professional rugby league footballer. A New South Wales State of Origin representative, he played for the Newcastle Knights in the National Rugby League as a er. Background McManus was born in Banff, Aberdeenshire, Scotland and moved to Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia at the age of nine after his father died and his mother married an Australian man. James Edward McManus (October 10, 1900 – July 6, 1976) was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. A Redemptorist, he served as Bishop of Ponce in Puerto Rico (1947–1963) and as an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of New York (1963–1970). Early life and education James McManus was born on October 10, 1900, in Brooklyn, New York, the eighth of nine children of William and Elizabeth (née O'Loughlin) McManus. Commander James Cathal Boyd McManus (a.k.a. Tom, 11 March 1891 – 1972) was an officer in the Royal Australian Navy. He commanded the Coastwatchers from 1943 until the end of World War II. James McManus (10 November 1804 – 15 February 1879) was an American politician. McManus was born in Newark, Delaware, on 10 November 1804. He settled on Long Island, New York, where he worked as a stonemason at Fort Hamilton. McManus married Mystic, Connecticut native Sarah Whittlesey on 10 March 1831. He moved to what is now Iowa in the 1830s, and sent for his wife and seven children the following year. They lived in Davenport, and owned a farm. James Michael McManus (born July 20, 1936) is a retired American professional baseball player whose ten-season career included five games played in Major League Baseball for the Kansas City Athletics () and two years (1962–1963) in Japanese baseball (NPB).
