James Lyon, 7th Earl of Strathmore (circa 1702 – 1735) was a Scottish peer and freemason. He was the son of John Lyon, 4th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and Lady Elizabeth Stanhope. He was christened on 24 December 1702. He succeeded as Earl of Strathmore following the stabbing of Charles Lyon, 6th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne in a drunken altercation in 1728.Matthew Forster Conolly, ''Biographical Dictionary of Eminent Men of Fife of Past and Present Times'', 1866, p. 309 On 6 March 1731 he married Mary Oliphant, daughter of Charles Oliphant (brother of William Oliphant, 11th Lord Oliphant). James Lyon (composer)
James Lyon (July 1, 1735 – October 12, 1794) was an American composer of the colonial and Federal eras in New England. Life James Lyon was born in Newark, New Jersey on July 1, 1735. It is known that his father was Zopher Lyon, but that he was orphaned at an early age. In 1750, Isaac Lyon and John Crane became James' guardians, until the age of twenty-one. Lyon then attended college at Nassau Hall, and afterwards obtained a master's degree from College of Philadelphia. Lyon became a Presbyterian minister, and left from Philadelphia for Nova Scotia, but he was unable to support his family, and subsequently accepted a job at the new settlement of Machias, Maine. After his first year there, the parish invited him to remain at a raised salary and he remained there with a few interruptions, until his death on October 12, 1794. Lieutenant-General Sir James Frederick Lyon (1775 – 16 October 1842) was a distinguished officer of the British Army who served as Governor of Barbados from 1829 to 1833. Biography James Frederick Lyon was a descendant of the Lyons family, from whom the Lords Glamis were also descended. James Frederick was son of Captain James Lyon, of the 35th Regiment of Foot, and his wife, who was the daughter of James Hamilton. James Frederick was born in 1775, on board a transport-ship that was homeward bound from America, subsequent to the after Battle of Bunker's Hill, at which his father was killed. On 4 August 1791, James Frederick was appointed an Ensign to the 25th Regiment of Foot. The Compiler Language With No Pronounceable Acronym (INTERCAL) is an esoteric programming language that was created as a parody by Don Woods and , two Princeton University students, in 1972. It satirizes aspects of the various programming languages at the time, as well as the proliferation of proposed language constructs and notations in the 1960s. There are two maintained implementations of INTERCAL dialects: C-INTERCAL (created in 1990), maintained by Eric S. Raymond and Alex Smith, and CLC-INTERCAL, maintained by Claudio Calvelli. James Douglas Lyon (born May 22, 1955) is an American rock guitarist. He is known primarily as the guitarist for Eddie Money in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and as a member of The Greg Kihn Band in the early 1990s. Career Jimmy Lyon was a guitar prodigy in California's Central Valley. He was discovered by Bill Graham, and paired with vocalist Eddie Money (another Graham discovery). Lyon was the lone guitarist on Eddie Money's first two albums, ''Eddie Money'' and '' Life for the Taking''. He was the lead guitarist on the albums '' Playing for Keeps'' and '' No Control''. Lyon left after the ''No Control'' album, but did play on the song "Backtrack" from the '' Where's the Party?'' album, and later made a guest appearance on the '' Nothing to Lose'' album, playing lead guitar on the hit " Walk on Water".
