James Little (British Politician)
James Little (1868–1 April 1946) was a unionist politician in Northern Ireland. Little studied at Queen's College and Assembly's College in Belfast before being ordained as a Presbyterian clergyman in 1900. He was elected for the Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) at the 1939 Down by-election, but was upset when he was put up for re-selection before the 1945 general election, and decided instead to stand as an independent Unionist. He easily topped the poll and was elected. He refused to rejoin the UUP, and died a few months later.John F. James Little (physician)
James Little (21 January 1837 – 23 December 1916) was an Irish medical practitioner. After spending an early part of his career as a ship's surgeon, surviving a shipwreck, he became chief physician at the Adelaide Hospital in Dublin and Regius Professor of Physic at the University of Dublin. Early life Little was born in Newry, the son of Archibald Little and his wife Mary, daughter of Richard Coulter. He was educated first at The Academy, Cookstown, Co. Tyrone and afterwards at The Royal School, Armagh. On leaving school, he became apprenticed to John Cohan, physician to the Armagh Fever Hospital and was also a pupil of Alexander Robinson, surgeon to the Armagh County Infirmary. James Oswald Little, AO (1 March 19372 April 2012) was an Australian Aboriginal musician, actor and teacher, who was a member of the Yorta Yorta tribe and was raised on the Cummeragunja Reserve, New South Wales. Little started his professional career in 1951, as a singer-songwriter and guitarist, which spanned six decades. For many years he was the main Aboriginal star on the Australian music scene. His music was influenced by Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis and American country music artist Jim Reeves. His gospel song "Royal Telephone" (1963) sold over 75,000 copies, and his most popular album, ''Messenger'', peaked at No. 26 in 1999 on the ARIA Albums Chart. At the ARIA Music Awards of 1999, Little was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame and won an ARIA Award for Best Adult Contemporary Album. James Lewis Little (1871 – February 25, 1967) was a schooner captain and politician in Newfoundland. He represented Bonavista in the Newfoundland House of Assembly from 1924 to 1928. He was born and was educated in Bonavista. Little married Mary Butler. He worked in the Labrador fishery. He was elected to the Newfoundland assembly in 1924 as a Liberal-Conservative. With two other members of Walter S. Monroe's caucus, Little joined the opposition in 1926 to protest the government's policies. He did not run for reelection in 1928. James Little (born 1952) is an American painter and curator. He is known for his works of geometric abstraction which are often imbued with exuberant color. He has been based in New York City. Early life and education Little was born in 1952 in Memphis, Tennessee, and grew up in the segregated American South. He is from an African American family. He studied at the Memphis Academy of Art (now known as Memphis College of Art), while a student his work was praised and selected in 1973 for an exhibition at the Arkansas Arts Center by Gerald Nordland. He received his BFA degree from Memphis Academy of Art in 1974. In 1976, Little obtained his MFA degree from Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York.
