James L. Jones Sr.
James Logan Jones Sr. (June 26, 1912 – March 30, 1986) was an officer in the United States Marine Corps and is considered to be a "co-patron of amphibious reconnaissance" in the Fleet Marine Force. He pioneered the United States' first 'amphib recon' units, the Observer Group and the FMF Amphib Recon companies during World War II. He was the father of James L. Jones Jr., the 32nd Commandant of the Marine Corps, Supreme Allied Commander of Europe and U.S. National Security Advisor and the brother of William Kenefick Jones who rose to the rank of Lieutenant General in the USMC. International Harvester Company
The International Harvester Company (often abbreviated by IHC, IH, or simply International ( colloq.)) was an American manufacturer of agricultural and construction equipment, automobiles, commercial trucks, lawn and garden products, household equipment, and more. It was formed from the 1902 merger of McCormick Harvesting Machine Company and Deering Harvester Company and three smaller manufactures: Milwaukee; Plano; and Warder, Bushnell, and Glessner (manufacturers of Champion brand). Faribault ( ) is a city in, and the county seat of, Rice County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 23,352 at the 2010 census. Faribault is approximately south of Minneapolis–Saint Paul. Interstate 35 and Minnesota State Highways 3, 21, and 60 are four of Faribault's main routes. Faribault is situated at the confluence of the Cannon and Straight Rivers in southern Minnesota. Shattuck-St. Mary's (also known as Shattuck-St. Mary's School, Shattuck, or simply SSM) is a coeducational Episcopal-affiliated boarding school in Faribault, Minnesota, United States. Established in 1858 as an Episcopal mission school and seminary, within a decade the school grew to include Shattuck Military Academy, St. Mary's Hall for girls and later (in 1901) St. James School for younger boys. The Jones Store
The Jones Store Company was an American chain of department stores located in the Kansas City area formerly operated by Mercantile Stores Company and the St. Louis, Missouri-based May Co. History The Jones Store Company was founded in 1887 as an store in Stafford, Kansas, by J. Logan Jones. In 1895 Jones opened a store at 6th and Main in the River Market neighborhood of Kansas City, Missouri. In 1902 Jones leased a seven-story building that took up an entire block at 12th Street and Main across the street from Bernheimer Bros. & Co. Jones declared bankruptcy in 1910 and the store was taken over by New York interests. In 1919 the new owners acquired the merchandise from Bernheimer Brothers. The downtown flagship store remained in business until January 1998 even as other large retailers had left downtown. The building was demolished in 2005. William Kenefick Jones
William Kenefick Jones (October 23, 1916 – April 15, 1998) was a United States Marine Corps Lieutenant general (United States), lieutenant general and a highly decorated veteran of three wars, receiving the Navy Cross (United States), Navy Cross, the Silver Star, the Bronze Star Medal, Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart. He was a battalion commander in World War II; a regimental commander just after the Korean War; and a division commander during the Vietnam War.
