James B. Hickey (born October 1, 1960) is a retired U.S. Army colonel. On December 13, 2003, he led Operation Red Dawn, the U.S. military effort that captured Saddam Hussein near Tikrit, Iraq. James Hickey (Irish Politician)
James Hickey (c. 1886 – 7 June 1966) was an Irish Labour Party politician who joined the short-lived breakaway National Labour Party. He served four terms as Lord Mayor of Cork. Hickey was one of twelve children in his family and was a native of Ballinagar, Mallow, County Cork. He was educated at Rahan national school, and moved to Cork City in 1913. At the age of 27, he found employment first with the Cork Steam Packet Company and later with John Daly & Co, then-manufacturers of Tanora. He joined the Labour Party about this time and became a trade union official. In 1931 he married Eileen Kiernan, and they had four children. Hickey first stood for the Dáil at the 1937 general election for the Cork Borough constituency, but narrowly missed being elected. He was successful at the 1938 general election, unseating Richard Anthony, a former Labour TD who left the Party in the 1920s and sat as an independent. James Aloysius Hickey (October 11, 1920 – October 24, 2004) was an American cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Archbishop of Washington from 1980 to 2000, and was elevated to the cardinalate in 1988. Hickey previously served as bishop of the Diocese of Cleveland in Ohio from 1974 to 1980. Hickey presided over a significant expansion of social services for the poor and sick in the Washington region by the Archdiocese of Washington. James Patrick Hickey (born February 22, 1973) is the President of the Orland Fire Protection District, (OFPD), one of the largest Fire Protection Districts in the State of Illinois and the Midwest. The Orland Fire Protection District covers Orland Township, the Village of Orland Park, the Village of Orland Hills, unincorporated areas of Orland Township, and parts of Tinley Park. James Hickey ( – ) was an Irish Fenian and Land Leaguer. Early life and war service Hickey was born near Barna about 1837 or 1838, is stated to have received a good education and settled in Boston at an unknown time prior to 1861. When the American Civil War began, he enlisted joined Company A, Irish Ninth, commanded by Captain James A. McGunnigle. Hickey was promoted to sergeant, and was wounded twice during the course of the war. Invasion of Canada A member of the Fenian Brotherhood, Hickey became involved in the organisation's invasion of Canada ( Fenian raids in 1866.
