James Henry (Continental Congress)
James Henry (1731 – December 9, 1804) was an American lawyer from Virginia who was a delegate to the Continental Congress. He was first elected to the Congress on December 17, 1779, but didn't enter the Congress until April 1780. Although he was elected again the following year, he attended no other sessions. James Henry was a native of Virginia, who studied law at the University of Edinburgh. Afterwards, he settled on the eastern shore of Virginia. He was a member of the Virginia House of Burgesses in 1772–1774. Following the declaration of independence, he became a member of the state legislature. James Buchanan Henry (1833–1915) was a lawyer, writer, Secretary to the President of the United States The Secretary to the President (sometimes dubbed the president's Private Secretary or Personal Secretary) was a 19th- and early 20th-century White House position that carried out all the tasks now spread throughout the modern White House Office. James Henry (soldier)
James Henry (1833–1911) was a Union Army soldier during the American Civil War. He received the Medal of Honor for gallantry during the Siege of Vicksburg on May 22, 1863. Henry joined the 113th Illinois Infantry in August 1862, and was mustered out in June 1865. He died in 1911, and was buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Geneva, Illinois. Union assault On May 22, 1863, General Ulysses S. Grant ordered an assault by XV Corpson the Confederate heights at Vicksburg, Mississippi. The 2nd Division was to lead the assault. The plan called for a diversionary storming party of volunteers to build a bridge across a moat and plant scaling ladders against the enemy embankment in advance of the main attack. The Division Commander, MGEN Blair called for volunteers for the party. James Henry (born 10 June 1989) is an English footballer who plays as a right winger for League One club Oxford United. A product of the Reading academy, Henry spent loan spells at Nottingham Forest, AFC Bournemouth, Norwich City, and Millwall (twice), before joining Millwall permanently in 2010. He went on to join Wolverhampton Wanderers, helping Wolves to promotion from League One. James Henry (poet)
James Henry (13 December 1798 – 14 July 1876) was an Irish classical scholar and poet. Life He was born in Dublin the elder son of a woollen draper, Robert Henry, and his wife Kathleen Elder. He was educated by Unitarian minister Joseph Hutton, and then at Trinity College, Dublin. At age 11 he fell in love with the poetry of Virgil and got into the habit of always carrying a copy of the ''Aeneid'' in his left breast-pocket. In Trinity he graduated with the gold medal for Classics. He then turned to medicine and until 1845 he practised as a physician in Dublin city. In spite of his unconventionality and unorthodox views on religion and his own profession, he was very successful. He married Anne Jane Patton, from Donegal, and had three daughters, only one of whom, Katherine, born 1830, survived infancy. James Dupree Henry
James Dupree Henry (January 17, 1950 – September 20, 1984) was an American criminal who was executed in Florida for the murder of civil rights leader Zellie Riley. Henry slashed Riley's throat during a robbery in Orlando on March 23, 1974. He also shot and almost killed Orlando detective Ronald E. Ferguson during his arrest five days later. Notably, despite killing a civil rights leader, other civil rights leaders, namely Jesse Jackson and Coretta Scott King, attempted to stop Henry's execution. William Riley, Zellie Riley's son, also stated he did not want his father's killer to be executed. On September 20, 1984, Henry was executed via the electric chair.
