James Glenwright Unger
James Glenwright Unger (born January 18, 1985) in Garfield Heights, Ohio is a retired American hockey player. He most recently played with the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL during the 2007-08 ECHL season. Playing career Unger was first noticed as a standout forward for the Topeka ScareCrows during the 2001-2003 seasons in the USHL. During his time in Topeka, Unger compiled 52 points in 100 games played, scoring 23 goals, 29 assists, and 181 penalty minutes. Unger played university hockey at Bowling Green State University from 2003 to 2007. During his 129 GP for BGSU, Unger amassed 78 total points, 40 career goals, 38 assists, and 189 penalty minutes. The defining moment of Unger's college career came when he set a CCHA record in 2007. The record is for most goals scored in a period with 4 goals in a 7-5 loss vs. University of Nebraska at Omaha. Forward (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, a forward is a player, and a position on the ice, whose primary responsibility is to score and assist goals. Generally, the forwards try to stay in three different lanes of the ice going from goal to goal. It is not mandatory, however, to stay in a lane. Staying in a lane aids in forming the common offensive strategy known as a triangle. One forward obtains the puck and then the forwards pass it between themselves making the goalie move side to side. This strategy opens up the net for scoring opportunities. This strategy allows for a constant flow of the play, attempting to maintain the control of play by one team in the offensive zone. The forwards can pass to the defence players playing at the blue line, thus freeing up the play and allowing either a shot from the point (blue line position where the defence stands) or a pass back to the offence. The University of Nebraska Omaha (Omaha or UNO) is a public research university in Omaha, Nebraska. Johnstown Chiefs
The Johnstown Chiefs were a minor league ice hockey team located in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, that played in the ECHL. The team was founded in 1987 in the All-American Hockey League, and moved to the East Coast Hockey League (now "ECHL") when that league was formed. The Chiefs lasted for 22 years in Johnstown, and was the last of the founding ECHL teams playing under its original name and in its original city. The Chiefs relocated to Greenville, South Carolina, following the completion of the 2010 season. Franchise history The owners originally wanted to name the team the Jets in honor of a team that had played in Johnstown from 1950 to 1977, mostly in the Eastern Hockey League. However, the old Jets' former owners still held the trademark for the name and refused to allow the new team to use it.
