James George (academic)
James George (November 8, 1800 – August 26, 1870) was the acting Principal of Queen's University from 1853 to 1857. He oversaw the establishment of the School of Medicine and the expansion of the Faculty of Arts. In 1854, George helped to bring the Reverend George Weir over from Scotland as a professor of classical literature. Relations between the two were amiable until Weir accused George of fathering his sister's illegitimate child. George stepped down amidst the scandal, but the matter was never fully investigated and he kept his post as the professor of moral philosophy. The 2nd Minnesota Infantry Regiment was a Minnesota USV infantry regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. James George (born 1962) is a New Zealand novelist, short story writer and creative writing lecturer. George has published three novels and several short stories, and lectures on creative writing at Auckland University of Technology. Life and career George was born in Wellington in 1962, and has lived most of his life in Auckland. He attended Remuera Intermediate School and Penrose High School. He is of Ngāpuhi, English and Irish descent. In addition to his writing he has worked in the purchasing office of an Auckland machinery company. George's first novel was ''Wooden Horses'' (2000), described by scholar Patrick Evans as "strongly romantic and lyrical". Jamie Edward George (born 20 October 1990) is an English professional rugby union player who plays as a hooker for Premiership Rugby club Saracens and the England national team. Early life George played for local team Hertford Rugby Football Club in his youth, until he was asked to join the Saracens Academy. George was educated at Haileybury and Imperial Service College and captained the Haileybury 1st XV for two years, in Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth, while also being a regular for the 1st XV in Y11.
