James Gabriel (politician)
James Gabriel (Mohawk) is a politician, a former chief of Kanesatake, a First Nations settlement within the boundaries of the city of Oka, Quebec. He was elected three times as Grand Chief, serving from 1995 to 2004. His tenure in office was controversial, marked by bitter divisions between his supporters and opponents that resulted in violence in January 2004. Early life and education James Gabriel was born to a European-Canadian mother and Mohawk father. Under the matrilineal kinship system at Kanesatake, children are traditionally considered to be born into the mother's clan, so Gabriel did not have a formal kinship relationship through his mother with the community. He grew up at Kanesatake, and both he and his father are registered as members of the community. Jimmy Gabriel
James Gabriel (10 October 1940 – 10 July 2021) was a Scottish football defensive midfielder and defender who earned two caps with the Scotland national football team. Chiefly associated with English clubs Everton and Southampton, Gabriel played extensively in Scotland and England before ending his career with the Seattle Sounders of the North American Soccer League. He then became a coach in both England and the United States. Playing career Dundee Jimmy Gabriel first came to the attention of Dundee when he played at right-half for the Scotland under-15 schoolboys in an international at Dens Park. His talent shone through and Dundee manager Willie Thornton snapped him up after the game, despite interest from several other top clubs. He was initially loaned out to Dundee North End Juniors, but was recalled to Dens Park a year later. James Gabriel Huquier
James Gabriel Huquier, originally Jacques-Gabriel (1725–1805) was a portrait-painter and engraver. He was the son of the roccoco engraver Gabriel Huquier and his wife Marie-Ann (Desvignes). One of Huquier's subjects was Chevalier d'Eon, an early transvestite. Life Huquier was born in Paris in 1730.http://www.pastellists.com/articles/huquier.pdf His father was an engraver in the style of Watteau and Boucher. His father's work based on the style of J. A. Meissonnier and Oppenord helped set styles in Louis XV's reign with regard to furniture, silver, and other decorative ornament. James Huquier assisted his father in many of his engravings.
