James Edward Mills
James Edwards Mills (born 1966) is an African Americans, African American author, freelance journalist, outdoor guide and independent media producer. Mills wrote ''The Adventure Gap: Changing the Face of the Outdoors.'' He has contributed to publications including National Geographic, Rock & Ice and Alpinist (magazine), Alpinist. Mills was one of the creative minds behind ''An American Ascent'', a documentary chronicling the first all African Americans, African American ascent of Denali, North America's highest peak. Biography Growing up in Los Angeles, California, Mills developed an interest in the outdoors through his participation in a local Boy Scouts of America, Boy Scout troop. San Diego Black Film Festival
The San Diego Black Film Festival is one of the largest black film festivals in the United States. It was founded in 2002 as the Noir Film Festival and takes place annually in San Diego County, California, to recognize African American movies and production. The festival's motto is "Spotlight on African American and African Diaspora Cinema". History The San Diego Black Film Festival, originally known as the Noir Film Festival, began in 2003 in a hotel room in the Gaslamp Quarter. Three films were shown, and approximately 20 people attended. In 2006 the name of the festival was changed to the San Diego Black Film Festival because the organizers realized that there was confusion with "Film Noir". By 2011, with 120 films scheduled and between 15,000 and 30,000 attendees expected, the festival had become one of the largest black film festivals in the United States and one of the most important festivals in San Diego. History Outside founders were Jann Wenner (the first editor in chief), William Randolph Hearst III (its first managing editor), and Jack Ford (an assistant to founding publisher Donald Welsh and a son of former U.S. President Gerald Ford). The Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival is an international film competition and annual presentation of films and documentaries about mountain culture, sports, environment and adventure & exploration. White House
The White House is the official residence and workplace of the president of the United States. It is located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, D.C., and has been the residence of every U.S. president since John Adams in 1800. The term "White House" is often used as a metonym for the president and his advisers. The residence was designed by Irish-born architect James Hoban in the neoclassical style.
