James E. Ferrell
James E. Ferrell has served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ferrellgas since 1965, when he assumed leadership from his father, company founder A.C. Ferrell. Since the time he took over, Ferrellgas has grown from a small, independently owned propane company to the second-largest propane retailer in the United States. An active member of the retail propane industry, Ferrell is a past president of the World LP Gas Association and a former chairman of the Propane Vehicle Council. In 2012 he was inducted with the inaugural class into LP Gas magazine's Hall of Fame. With Elizabeth J. Ferrell he has created an archive of medieval manuscripts including the Vogüé codex of Guillaume de Machaut, currently on loan to Parker Library of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University. Jim Ferrell
James Allen Ferrell (born September 15, 1966) is an American lawyer and politician serving in his third term as the Mayor of Federal Way, Washington since 2014. He is a candidate for King County Prosecutor. After being a member of the Republican Party for twenty years, in 2012 he switched to the Democratic Party. Ferrell previously served ten years on the Federal Way City Council and was the prime mover behind the city's transition from a Council–Manager form of city government to a Mayor-Council or "Strong Mayor" government. Federal Way is currently the 9th largest city in the state of Washington. In the 2022 general election, Ferrell ran for the King County Prosecuting Attorney position and lost. Ferrellgas Partners, L.P. is an American supplier of propane founded years ago in Atchison, Kansas by A.C. Ferrell. The nationwide company is headquartered in Liberty, Missouri. History The company was founded in 1939 by Alfred Carl (A.C.) Ferrell in Atchison, Kansas. Established as A.C. Ferrell Butane Gas Company, the business prospered during World War II and the immediate post-war years. The company sold gas heaters and floor furnaces from its storefront on Commercial Street in downtown Atchison. In 1947, A.C. Ferrell erected a bulk plant on a rail siding in East Atchison to help supply bottled gas to local customers. A.C.'s wife, Mabel, was active in the family business, serving as office manager and bookkeeper. The business began a slow, steady decline when Mabel died in 1952. Propane () is a three-carbon alkane with the molecular formula . It is a gas at standard temperature and pressure, but compressible to a transportable liquid. A by-product of natural gas processing and petroleum refining, it is commonly used as a fuel in domestic and industrial applications and in low-emissions public transportation. Discovered in 1857 by the French chemist Marcellin Berthelot, it became commercially available in the US by 1911. Propane is one of a group of liquefied petroleum gases (LP gases). Guillaume de Machaut (, ; also Machau and Machault; – April 1377) was a French composer and poet who was the central figure of the style in late medieval music. William Jewell College
William Jewell College is a private liberal arts college in Liberty, Missouri. It was founded in 1849 by members of the Missouri Baptist Convention and endowed with $10,000 by William Jewell. It was associated with the Missouri Baptist Convention for over 150 years until its separation in 2003 and is now an independent institution.
