James Deese
James Earle Deese (1921–1999) was an American psychologist. He joined the faculty of the University of Virginia in 1970 after having taught for many years (since 1950) at Johns Hopkins University. During his tenure at Johns Hopkins, Deese became Chairman of the Psychology Department and also served a term as Chairman of the American Psychological Association. Deese later became the Chairman of the Psychology Department at University of Virginia until his partial retirement, later remaining as professor emeritus. He received the Hugh Scott Hamilton award for his distinguished service. Personal life Deese, a 1/2 Lumbee Indian was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on December 14, 1921. Lumbee
The Lumbee are a Native American people primarily centered in Robeson, Hoke, Cumberland and Scotland counties in North Carolina. They also live in surrounding states and Baltimore, Maryland. The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina is a state-recognized tribe in North Carolina numbering approximately 55,000 enrolled members. James Henry Deese (September 23, 1914 – August 11, 2001) was an American NASA manager. Buck Mountain Episcopal Church
Buck Mountain Episcopal Church is a historic Episcopal church on VA 743, northwest of the junction with VA 633 in Earlysville, Virginia. It is a rare surviving example of the simple wooden Anglican parish churches scattered through Virginia in the colonial period, and is considered one of the finest surviving examples of rural Virginia Greek Revival churches. One of three churches erected to serve Frederick Parish, the original building was completed between 1747 and 1750. The church was moved to its present site (approximately one mile from its original location) in 1860. Buck Mountain is now a parish church in the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia. Allyssa K. McCabe is a psychological scientist known for her work on narrative development. She is Professor Emerita of Psychology in the College of Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, and affiliated with the Center for Autism Research & Education (CARE).
