James DeMonaco
James DeMonaco (born October 12, 1969) is an American screenwriter, director, and producer. He is best known for creating the ''Purge'' franchise, writing all five films in the series and directing the first three, ''The Purge'' (2013), ''Anarchy'' (2014), and '' Election Year'' (2016). DeMonaco's first produced screenplay was the Robin Williams comedy ''Jack'' (1996), directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Personal life DeMonaco grew up in Brooklyn and Staten Island. The Purge
''The Purge'' is an American anthology media franchise centered on a series of dystopian action horror films distributed by Universal Pictures and produced by Blumhouse Productions and Platinum Dunes, which are written and in some cases also directed by James DeMonaco, who was inspired by a ''Star Trek: The Original Series'' episode, "The Return of the Archons". The films present a seemingly normal, crime-free America in the near-future.
