He played college baseball for the Grambling State Tigers baseball, Grambling State Tigers from 2001 to 2004 before playing professionally from 2004 to 2006. He then served as head coach of the Grambling State Tigers (2010 NCAA Division I baseball season, 2010–2021). Playing career Cooper was an outfielder for Grambling, where he earned All-Conference honors and played under longtime head coach Wilbert Ellis. He was drafted in the 33rd round of the 2004 MLB Draft by the Houston Astros. Shreveport ( ) is a city in the U.S. state of Louisiana. It is the third most populous city in Louisiana after New Orleans and Baton Rouge, respectively. 2014 Southwestern Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament
The 2014 Southwestern Athletic Conference baseball tournament was held at Wesley Barrow Stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana, from May 14 through 18, 2014. won their sixteenth tournament championship, and second in a row, to earn the conference's automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Division I baseball tournament. The event was originally scheduled for LaGrave Field in Fort Worth, Texas, but was moved due to concerns about player safety. The double elimination tournament features the top four teams from each division, leaving one team from each division out of the field. Mississippi Valley State and Southern did not qualify for the Tournament.
