James Nathan Castle (May 23, 1836 – January 2, 1903) was a U.S. Representative from Minnesota; born in Shefford in Lower Canada; he attended the public schools; studied law; moved to Afton, Washington County, Minnesota, in 1862 and taught school; completed his law studies; was admitted to the bar and practiced; moved to Stillwater, Washington County in 1865 and continued the practice of law; elected county attorney in 1866 to fill the unexpired term of his deceased brother; city attorney in 1868; elected to the Minnesota Senate in 1868, 1878, and 1882; elected as a Democrat to the 52nd United States Congress (March 4, 1891 – March 3, 1893); chairman of the United States House Committee on Mileage (52nd Congress); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1892 to the 53rd United States Congress The 53rd United States Congress was a meeting of the legislative branch of the United States federal government, consisting of the United States Senate and the United States ... James Bicknell Castle
James Bicknell Castle (November 27, 1855 – April 5, 1918) was a Honolulu businessman in times of the Kingdom of Hawaii, Republic of Hawaii and Territory of Hawaii. Life James Bicknell Castle was born November 27, 1855, in Honolulu. His father was Samuel Northrup Castle (1808–1894), and mother was Mary Tenney Castle (1819–1907). He attended Punahou School 1867–1873, and then Oberlin College. He greatly expanded Castle & Cooke in the sugar and railroad industries. He is credited with winning control of the Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Company from Claus Spreckels in 1898, which he sold to Alexander & Baldwin for a large share of their stock. This episode resulting in a lawsuit by the former manager of the plantation, William J. Lowrie. He bought large amounts of land, such as Kaneohe Ranch. James Charles Castle
James Castle (September 25, 1899 – October 26, 1977) was an American artist born in Garden Valley, Idaho. Although Castle did not know about the art world outside of his small community, his work ran parallel to the development of 20th-century art history. His works have been collected by major institutions. The Philadelphia Museum of Art organized a retrospective of Castle's work which toured nationally in 2008–09. Castle's work entered the international arena with a major exhibition in Madrid, Spain at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in 2011 and was included in the 2013 Venice Biennale exhibition ''The Encyclopedic Palace.'' In 2014 The Smithsonian American Art Museum featured their recent acquisition in the exhibition ''Untitled: The Art of James Castle'' and the Whitney Museum of American Art included their acquired collection of Castle's work in the 2017 exhibition ''Where We Are.'' James Castle (sculptor)
James Castle is a Scottish sculptor and artist based in Malmesbury, Wiltshire. The majority of his work is carved in wood; there are also sculptures modelled in plaster and clay, some of which have been cast into bronze. Castle was born in 1946, in Aberdeen, Scotland. He was educated at Ealing School of Art, London; Winchester School of Art, Winchester, where he was taught by Heinz Henghes; and the Royal College of Art, London. He worked as a senior lecturer in sculpture at the University of Gloucestershire, Cheltenham. A lot of Castle's work depicts loosely, or cryptically anthropomorphic animals. Jimmy Castle
''Dirty Dancing'' is a 1987 American romantic drama dance film written by Eleanor Bergstein, produced by Linda Gottlieb, and directed by Emile Ardolino. Starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, it tells the story of Frances "Baby" Houseman, a young woman who falls in love with dance instructor Johnny Castle (Swayze) at a vacation resort. The film was based on screenwriter Bergstein's own childhood. She originally wrote a screenplay for the Michael Douglas film '' It's My Turn'', but ultimately ended up conceiving a story for a film which became ''Dirty Dancing''. She finished the script in 1985, but management changes at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer put the film in development hell. The production company was changed to Vestron Pictures with Emile Ardolino as director and Linda Gottlieb as producer.
