The James C. and Agnes M. Stout House is a historic house in Lake City, Minnesota, United States. It was built in 1872. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989 for its local significance in the theme of architecture. It was nominated for being a leading example of the Carpenter Gothic style, which is fairly rare among Minnesota's housing stock. Lake City, Minnesota
Lake City is a city in Goodhue and Wabasha counties in the U.S. state of Minnesota. It lies along Lake Pepin, a wide portion of the Mississippi River. The population was 5,063 at the 2010 census. Most of Lake City is located within Wabasha County with only a small portion in Goodhue County. Lake City is part of the Rochester, Minnesota Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Lake City is located southeast of the Twin Cities at the intersection of U.S. Highways 61 and 63 on the Mississippi River at Lake Pepin. Carpenter Gothic, also sometimes called Carpenter's Gothic or Rural Gothic, is a North American architectural style-designation for an application of Gothic Revival architectural detailing and picturesque massing applied to wooden structures built by house-carpenters.
