James Brown
James Joseph Brown (May 3, 1933 – December 25, 2006) was an American singer, dancer, musician, record producer and bandleader. The central progenitor of funk music and a major figure of 20th century music, he is often referred to by the honorific nicknames "the Hardest Working Man in Show Business", "Godfather of Soul", "Mr. Dynamite", and "Soul Brother No. 1". In a career that lasted more than 50 years, he influenced the development of several music genres. Brown was one of the first 10 inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at its inaugural induction in New York on January 23, 1986. Brown began his career as a gospel singer in Toccoa, Georgia. He first came to national public attention in the mid-1950s as the lead singer of the Famous Flames, a rhythm and blues vocal group founded by Bobby Byrd. Jim Brown (director)
James Bradford Brown (born June 7, 1950) is an American film director, primarily known for his work in documentary film. He has won four Emmys, most recently for ''Pete Seeger: The Power of Song''. He has directed and produced four feature documentaries that received theatrical distribution. He heads Jim Brown Productions, LLC and Ginger Group Productions, Inc., production companies specializing in cultural and social documentaries and music concerts. He studied film at Tisch School of the Arts, and is an associate professor at New York University's Kanbar Institute of Film and Television at Tisch School of the Arts. James Conway Brown
James Conway Brown (1838 – 1908) was a Welsh musician. His father was also called James Brown, and was one of the proprietors of the Blaina iron-works, Monmouthshire for a time. James attended Camberwell Collegiate School and King's College London, before joining his uncle, Thomas Brown, managing director of Ebbw Vale iron-works at Ebbw Vale to train as an Iron-master. He was more interested in music however, and performed as a pianist, violinist, and also as an organist in a number of places of worship. After deciding to leave his business career for a career in music, he was appointed, in 1869, organist of Aldershot parish church. James Clifford Brown (1923–2004) was an English composer, former Senior Lecturer in the Department of Music and Organist at the University of Leeds. Life James Clifford Brown, usually referred to as James Brown, was born at 49 St. Matthew's Street, Ipswich on 18 August 1923. His father Henry John Brown was an electrical engineer and later professional cellist while his mother Lois was a junior school teacher. James also had a brother named Tom being a chartered engineer and a sister called Dulcie who has been a civil servant, a missionary and a music teacher of cello and classical guitar. He was trained in singing and organ-playing by Jonathan Job, the Ipswich Borough Organist, then himself became organist and choirmaster at All Hallows' Church. James Adrian Brown (born 19 June 1984 in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England) is a musician, solo electronic artist, composer and former guitarist and songwriter with the English alternative rock band Pulled Apart By Horses. He has been described as an icon in the making, throwing himself around the stage with a blatant disregard to health and safety. Pulled Apart By Horses Brown formed the band in 2008. James Brown (c. 1847–unknown) was a Sergeant in the United States Army who received the Medal of Honor for his actions during the Indian Wars. Early life James was born in Wexford, Ireland, in about 1847. He was a Sergeant in Company F, 5th US Cavalry when he displayed actions near the Davidson Canyon, Arizona, that would earn him the Medal of Honor. Brigadier General James "Buster" Sutherland Brown (June 28, 1881 – April 14, 1951) was a Canadian military officer best known for drafting a contingency war plan in 1921 to invade and occupy several American border cities.
